Queen's Hotel Kandy - 160 Years of Heritage & Luxury

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Temple of the Tooth and Kandy Lake. The breakfast was also good.

A beautiful old hotel. The location is excellent, with lake views and a temple nearby! Breakfast was superb! The only downside was the connecting rooms. We could hear everything – a child in the next room cried all night. It would probably be better to put families with young children in non-connecting rooms.

Let's start with the positives: the location is superb, and Queen's Hotel Kandy - 160 Years of Heritage & Luxury boasts a deep historical background with a distinctive colonial charm. However, the facilities are outdated, and the desk in the room was surprisingly dirty, which doesn't quite match the elegant atmosphere the hotel tries to create. Also, if you're a light sleeper, definitely avoid rooms facing the street; they are very noisy.

The location is great, just across the road from Kandy Lake and the Temple of the Tooth. You can even see them from your room's balcony. The service was good and professional. The elevator was quite interesting as you had to manually open and close the doors. The facilities are indeed a bit old, but they are well-maintained. Just remember to bring your own slippers and toothbrush as they are not provided. One issue was the soundproofing. While the soundproofing between rooms was decent, the windows are hundred-year-old wooden ones, making them essentially useless for sound insulation. You can hear the traffic outside very clearly.

The hotel's location is absolutely impeccable! Before arriving, I knew it was close to Kandy Lake and the Temple of the Tooth, but once I got there, I realized just how incredibly close it was – literally right on the doorstep! It's closer than walking to the complex and supermarket across from my own house... Almost all the good restaurants in Kandy are near the hotel too. Now, about the facilities. Given it's a century old, it's bound to be a bit dated, and there's no point in complaining about that. My only minor gripe is that the lighting in the room was quite dim (could the wattage be higher?). The breakfast service was good; the variety wasn't huge, but it was definitely filling.

A charming and quaint hotel, located directly opposite the Temple of the Tooth. It's just a two-minute walk to the riverside. The rooms are spacious, and the price is very reasonable, including both breakfast and dinner.

This hotel has a rich history and a great atmosphere, plus the location is unbeatable. However, the bathroom was a bit dirty with some mold, and the shower pressure was quite weak. Despite that, it offers good value for money and is a charming hotel for those who appreciate historical character.

I was thrilled by this precious, historic building! The elevator is also retro, like something out of Harry Potter! The building itself is intertwined with the historical background of Kandy. In the hallway in front of the rooms, old uniforms are even displayed. The room was very clean! It had both air conditioning and a fan, but even without them, it was cool despite how hot it was outside (I stayed in mid-September). There was a refrigerator, kettle, hairdryer, TV, and about four hangers. Shampoo and other amenities were also provided. It even had a bathtub! It's right in front of the Temple of the Tooth and close to a shopping mall, so it's a recommended base for sightseeing! However, there's music playing outside until about 8 PM, which might bother some people.
