Hotels in Pier-2 Art Center/Yanchengpu Station, Kaohsiung

I saw in the guesthouse's description that it's not recommended for those who are very particular about hygiene, but after checking in, I found it wasn't too bad. I did notice some faint, unremovable stains on the bed sheets and duvet, but the floors and bathroom were very clean, which I was happy with. Mosquitoes tend to fly into the guesthouse easily; they do provide an electric mosquito swatter and mosquito repellent (though I'm not sure if it works), so that's something to be aware of. The guesthouse offers self check-in, and the staff were friendly. They even upgraded my room this time, which was a nice bonus. The parking lot charges 200 NTD and requires prior notice. Overall, I think it offers pretty good value for money.

I was upgraded from a standard room to a corner room this time, which I really appreciate. Even though the corner room had a city view, being on the 7th floor still felt very atmospheric. Looking out from inside, the design was great, and the overall design of both the room and the lobby was excellent. A big plus was the very reasonable price I booked on Trip. A few minor drawbacks include: • Since the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, there's no ice or microwave service. • Only tea bags were provided, no coffee, which was a little disappointing. • There were no hooks in the bathroom, making it a bit inconvenient when changing clothes, especially for business travelers. I hope these points can be improved in the future.

PAPO’A Harbor Hotel – A Charming Stay by the Harbor in Kaohsiung During our trip to Kaohsiung, we decided to stay at PAPO’A Harbor Hotel, and it turned out to be a great choice for exploring the creative harbor district of the city. The hotel is located just a short walk from Pier-2 Art Center, one of the most vibrant and artistic areas in Kaohsiung. The neighborhood is filled with street art, converted warehouses, cafés, and galleries, making it a perfect place to wander around both during the day and in the evening. Being able to walk back to the hotel after exploring the area was a big plus. One of the things that makes PAPO’A Harbor Hotel unique is its character. The building used to be a harbor staff dormitory and has been thoughtfully renovated into a boutique hotel. The design blends industrial elements with modern minimal touches, giving the space a calm and slightly artistic atmosphere that fits perfectly with the surrounding Pier-2 district. Our room was simple but very comfortable. The bed was cozy, the room was clean, and everything felt well maintained. While the hotel focuses more on design and location than luxury facilities, it provides everything you need for a pleasant stay. Some rooms even offer partial views of the harbor, which adds to the experience of staying in this port city. Another great advantage is transportation. The Light Rail stop is only a few minutes away, making it easy to reach other parts of Kaohsiung such as Love River, Central Park, or connect to the MRT system. Overall, PAPO’A Harbor Hotel is a lovely boutique stay for travelers who appreciate design, convenience, and a relaxed harbor atmosphere. It may not be a large luxury hotel, but its charm, location, and unique character make it a memorable place to stay in Kaohsiung.

Decent location, big room, but room service was.. really meh. There were only 3 food items and 1 non alcoholic drink on the menu — and room service ends at 9pm daily. Housekeeping only has one cleaning time per day. So if you decide to sleep in, your room wouldn’t be cleaned that day.

Convenient location, just a few minutes' walk to the MRT station. Tourist attractions are also nearby. The cleanliness is about 80%. Hot and cold water dispensers are available in the hallway, which is environmentally friendly and convenient. However, the breakfast food was just average, perhaps because I'm not a local. Overall, it's okay, especially given the attractive price.

This hotel is in a great location, close to Pier-2 Art Center. It's not far from Yanchengpu Station on the MRT Orange Line, and about a 19-minute walk to Hamasen Station on the light rail. Just a heads-up, there's no elevator! The 6-person rooms are on the 3rd floor, and the 4-person rooms are on the 4th floor. If you're in a 4-person room, there are no bathrooms or toilets on the 4th floor, so you'll have to go down to the 3rd floor to use them. Also, the bunk beds are quite wobbly; any movement or turning over will cause a creaking sound.

Don't bother booking the 'river view' room – it's a complete waste of money. The location, however, is excellent. There's a market right across the street, and the BTS Skytrain station is less than a minute's walk to the right from the hotel entrance.

The Hsiang-Chi Hotel (驳二旅馆) boasts an excellent location, just a convenient 5-minute walk from Yanchengpu MRT Station exits 1 and 4. Turning left from the hotel entrance brings you to the Pier-2 Art Center and attractions near Dagang Bridge. You can also catch the light rail to Hamasen or take a ferry to Cijin Island for some sightseeing. Nearby, you'll find conveniences like Cosmed, Watsons, 7-Eleven, and a variety of international restaurants. On level B1, there's a game room and a laundry room; washing machines are free to use, but the dryer costs about 50 NTD for 45 minutes. The 2nd-floor common area offers popcorn and complimentary tea and coffee starting at 3 PM, and you can even order takeout to enjoy there. Breakfast is delicious, with a different selection of dishes rotated daily.

There is a special style of a small hotel. We were forced to stay for two days during a typhoon. The manager took the initiative to reduce the charges and prices. The staff specially arranged breakfast and lunch for us during the typhoon. The hotel understands the plight of its guests when they are away from home, and their thoughtful care is worthy of praise!

The place was very clean and the staff were kind, polite, and spoke English well. They explained everything clearly from the beginning and gave me a full tour of the property. There is a dining area, and before taking the elevator, you need to change your shoes. Each guest has a room number and should place their shoes in the matching shoe rack. I recommend adding the hotel’s Line account — they will send all the details there. No key is needed to access the room; everything is done using codes. The room is spacious and has a large locker for storage. The shared bathroom was clean and fully equipped with essentials like a toothbrush and towels (including small ones). There is also a modern laundry area that connects two parts of the building through the same door — it feels like one place, not two. It’s about a 5-minute walk from the BTS station, which is very convenient. The only downside is that the entrance was confusing when I first arrived. The map pin showed a laundromat, but the actual entrance is on the back side of the building. Overall, a great stay. I recommend it.
