Grand Tamarind Lake

A complete downfall—stay away from Grand Tamarind Lake I’ve stayed at Grand Tamarind Lake before, about 10 years ago, and had wonderful memories. Sadly, this time was an absolute nightmare. I booked an executive suite for my family, but from the moment we arrived, everything went wrong. Check-in was extremely slow, and we waited for ages. The welcome drink was undrinkable—full of sugar. Once inside the room, there was a bad smell throughout. The toilets were not cleaned, and the beds were dirty. I have photos as evidence, otherwise it would just be words. To make things worse, the reception didn’t even know if our booking had been paid for, so we had to wait even longer while they figured it out. The food was awful. Don’t even think about trying their buffet—it’s completely useless. I hope the hotel management takes this feedback seriously and does some real groundwork to fix things. But for now, I strongly recommend staying away.

We just stayed for one night. We got checked in quickly and very good service by the staff. Nice big rooms.

Check in took more than 40 minutes, rooms are massive and some good views. Air conditioning needs a repair for sure. Food was nice but restaurant staff were not that friendly. Breakfast buffet had some good variety. Hotel is okay for a one night stay, i doubt if its good for a longer holiday. Good thing is that kiri vehera temple is close by.

Very good location , close to Yala Park. Very friendly and helpful staff. The view from our balcony was beautiful. The room was very spacious and clean. Very good restaurant, lovely food and waitresses.Good value for money. The Wi-Fi needs attention, it caused us a few issues. But all in all a very good hotel

We stayed here during our pilgrimage to Kataragama and had a very pleasant experience. The rooms were spacious, the views were beautiful, and the food was tasty, although the service was a little slow at times. The hotel also has an EV charging facility, which was very convenient. The biggest strength of this hotel is its staff. Most of them are very young, around 19 to 20 years old, but they are polite, friendly, and always willing to help. A special thanks to Nethsara at the Front Office. Even at such a young age, he is professional and has great potential for a successful career in the tourism industry. My only suggestion to the management is to continue investing in training these young team members and do your best to retain them for the long term. They have great potential and will undoubtedly provide even better service in the years to come. Overall, a very enjoyable stay, and we would be happy to visit again.

We stayed in a family suite , which was large & clean & spacy . While certain minor improvement's could be done overall service , accommodation, hospitality , i would give it a solid 8.5 . The best value for Money for a hotel of this standard

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making my stay very relaxing. The staff were welcoming, polite, and always willing to help with any questions or requests. The hotel's location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and essential services. The facilities were excellent, and everything was organized and well-kept. Overall, I had a great experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

A fantastic hotel that exceeded expectation, with stunning views of the Detagamuwa Lake. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, particularly in the restaurant. Kirivehera and the Kataragama Devalaya were both very close by; the hotel is located in the perfect spot. We will definitely be staying at the Grand Tamarind during every future trip to Kataragama!
