Baber Mahal Vilas - the Heritage Hotel Reviews

This hotel feels like a hidden gem nestled in a small garden in Kathmandu. The whole area has French restaurants and chic boutiques, winding like a charming little maze, adding to its tranquil atmosphere. We stayed for a few days, and the room facilities were decent, the service was excellent, and it wasn't crowded. The breakfast wasn't particularly lavish but had a nice local flavor. The hotel's location is good; it's quite convenient to get around by taxi. Considering the value for money, I'd recommend staying here.

The hotel's location and design are great, but it feels like the operations team can't keep up. The power went out for several hours in the middle of the night, and no one answered the front desk phone. Breakfast was quite a walk away and the quality was just average.

Excellent service, liked the palatial experience. Well maintained. However, breakfast was a let down. Limited options and food was cold or undercooked. Spa is a good option. The masseuse was very good, however would have preferred the spa area to have light music / offer hot tea to better the experience. Overall, enjoyed our stay and would love to be back.

Wonderful stay at Babarmahal villa. Beautiful place and wonderful staffs!! Super clean , super ethnic. Loved every moment spent in the hotel.

Really good location and lovely staff

We knew the service would be good as soon as we booked, and within hours we received a welcome email, listing the ways we could contact them if we needed to. On the pick up at the airport, they were speedy and efficient and the taxi ride only took us 20 minutes with traffic. As we walked through the door we were blown away by the interior decoration, only then to find that hotel had been a former palace! Historic artifacts and pictures were strewn through the hallways and the outside only matched the royal feel with perfection. We stayed in the royal suite, with a big bed and balcony. The staff were great, the breakfast was standard for off peak times and although the location isn't in the depth of Thamel, the area most will go out for eating and drinking, it was within 30 minutes drive of most landmarks and as it was the ambassedy/ office worker area, there was a nice vibe. There were some things that can't be controlled. The hotel did a good job of providing heat as the weather in February is still chilly. The pollution was real. Especially as you walk nearer the streets, something to think about if you are sensitive to this. Apart from that, It was all really wonderful. I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, historic building. Staff was attentive and kind. Adjacent to the hotel are nice restaurants (Nepalese, Indian and very fine French). I've made use of the small but practical gym, thereafter the sauna and finishing and cooling off in the outside pool.  Only 10-15m away from the airport (outside rush hours).  I'll certainly come again.

The place is so beautiful with architecture and heritage. It has a lot of history and culture. We love it.

Nice historic hotel, enjoyed the vibe. Not bad location at quiet place, but close to main attractions. breakfast. Of course too expensive for Nepal, but worth every penny

I really liked this whole hotel complex. There’s a mini-mall / restaurant area next to it. Even if not staying there, go to eat and have drinks. There’s a lovely library upstairs, and it is a truly beautiful property amidst the chaos of the street. No noise distractions at all. The staff were so inviting and I was able to meet my tour guide there since he frequents the dining spots next door. There is just a natural feel of Nepal at these villas, for solo, friends, or couples. Many expat travelers in the city. I did a city tour with Bibi Funyal *************** who also works with Future Citizens Nepal. Even though he mainly does mountain treks, he knew all the places within this hotel area to best explore. I hope they collaborate a package for future travels. The staff was very accommodating to helping me understand the cash system, tips, drivers, etc. It rained while there, and this villa is a vacation in its own.

I think this is the best place to stay in Kathmandu. The hotel has its own market/bazaar which is so cool to walk through. Very peaceful and quiet. Local food was quite delicious.

The hotel service was excellent. The staff allowed us to preview our room first, and then politely showed us other rooms during our interview. We were very grateful. The breakfast was plentiful and the price was very reasonable. Because it was off-season during the rainy season, there were more rooms available. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

A very nice room with a reasonable design, a retro style, comfortable and cozy. The facilities and amenities are good 🙏. Bottled water and various toiletries are provided. I especially liked the murals on the walls.
