Five star historical hotel close to the city cultural landmarks and good location for excursions out of the city as well. Comes with western fine dining and Asian restaurant which are both amazing.

Location is superb, right in the middle of Kathmandu, walking distance to Thamel. Other interesting landmarks are easy to reach with the helpful taxi drivers (always present outside the gates). Hotel staff are very kind, sincerely engage in conversation and helpful in providing tourist information. Rooms are cost and warm decorated. Hotel has a beautiful garden suitable for a relaxing stroll. Swimming pool is nice and very clean! I highly recommend this hotel above other hotels in Kathmandu. Thank you Mr Prakesh for the awesome service in the restaurant.

Today, it has grown to offer 241 rooms, blending classic charm with modern comfort. Staying at Yak & Yeti feels like walking through a living museum. The interiors are adorned with intricate artwork, antique treasures, and traditional Nepali designs that tell stories of the country's rich heritage. Outside, the lush gardens offer a peaceful escape, complete with green lawns, a serene pond, and striking sculptures that add to the hotel's charm. One of the hotel’s most iconic features is the Lal Durbar Convention Center, a restored part of the historic Lal Durbar Palace. Built in 1890 by Prime Minister Bir Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana for his son Rudra, the palace showcases a unique mix of European, Persian, and Nepali architectural styles. Though parts of it were lost over time, the Saraf family dedicated nearly forty years to lovingly restoring it. Today, it serves as an elegant venue for weddings, meetings, and grand events. Guests can also enjoy browsing the shopping arcade, where local crafts and souvenirs let you take home a piece of Nepal. In the waiting area, you’ll find a colorful, eye-catching gazebo created by contemporary artist Tsherin Sherpa.
