We had a great few days here The chalets are luxurious The staff are all very helpful and friendly Our guide - Andis - was good company. He was good fun and very knowledgeable about the wildlife, flora and fauna. He managed to find us a troop of pygmy elephants and a family of proboscis monkeys, fireflies and much more Even when you’re not wildlife spotting the wetlands are a very relaxing place to travel around A wonderful place to spend a few days

We stayed 2 nights at the resort. First was a great boat ride out the Sandakan harbour past Berhala Island and into Kinabatangan River expertly looked after by our Captain. The resort had great food, lovely chalets and friendly and attentive staff. Every early morning, late afternoon and evening were wildlife spotting river trips with our expert guide and boat driver. The river is magical and the local fishing villages look so peaceful. We spotted different monkeys, crocodiles, birds, snakes…orangutan and elephants are rare. So make sure to do your research on what wildlife escape will suit. Very enjoyable trip.

A great place to visit the river. Much less busy than resorts at Sakau. Accommodation was huge and very well appointed. Air conditioning worked well. Food was good but not outstanding. Our guide was Andis and he was very knowledgeable and fun. Trips on the river and walks in the resort area were excellent. Only things I could fault were the drinking water was tepid. Could have bathed in it comfortably. We’re far fewer birds around than I had imagined. But that wasn’t their fault. Maybe I expected too much.

Excellent three days spent here as part of a package. Accommodation very comfortable and well appointed. WiFi throughout complex. Staff all very good from guides to not captains to restaurant staff. Food good if limited choice. Trips out to see the wild life out of this world. Saw all of the big 5 at least once. Cannot recommend highly enough

This is an incredible place in the middle of the jungle and would completely recommend. Accommodation was spotless, all facilities great with knowledgeable staff. Sadly we only stayed one night, but saw so much wildlife on the boat tour. A fantastic experience!

Fabulous lodge on river. Great Malay food for three meals a day and lovely rooms with air con. A must in the humidity. Our river guide and driver were excellent and we had some great cruises to spot wildlife.

Lovely lodges in a rainforest setting. The lodges had everything that was needed. The tours that we did with the resort guide were great. I will never know how they manage to spot everything from a distance. It was a real highlight to see an orangutan in the wild (although obviously this isn't guaranteed). The meals were nice and they were very good at helping a member of my party with a peanut allergy as to what she could eat.

Gorgeous resort! We stayed here as part of a custom package booked through "Adventures in Borneo with Downbelow Marine & Wildlife" along with some scuba diving out of Kota Kinabalu. The whole experience was amazing. The accomodation is stunning with a large picture window looking out into the rain forest. The food was plentiful and there was a lot of variety. Even my picky boys (son and husband!) were happy. There were several boat trips a day to see the local wildlife. We were delighted to see loads of monkeys including proboscis monkeys in large groups fighting in the trees. My son was a little disappointed we didn't see orangutans or elephants but it's a wildlife cruise rather than a sanctuary or zoo so nothing is guaranteed! We saw plenty of other wildlife and birds! The guides were friendly and really knowledgable and answered our many questions. I would definitely recommend this trip!

This was everything we expected it to be. We were accommodated in a comfortable lodge within the wild surroundings. The lodges have great air conditioning so keeps you nice and cool after sessions out on the river. At night, the jungle comes alive and can take you by surprise a little as the noise levels are incredible. Your really feel like you are enveloped by the jungle which of course, you are! You have to remember that you are not in a five star hotel so the staff are limited as to what they can offer. What this entails is limited hot water for showers due to the heating system being solar, limited but very tasty food choices, no relaxation areas other than the lodges. All of this was not a problem for us but worthy of mention as I’m sure some folk will expect somethings that cannot be offered!! The tours of the river were incredible and something we will never forget thanks to a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide (Omar). Early morning and late afternoon starts are involved to give you the best opportunity of seeing as much wildlife as possible. We were very lucky to see a very large crocodile which appeared to have just fed (16-18 foot in length), Orangutans (from a distance), Rhino hornbill, Proboscis Monkey, Macaque Monkey, etc, etc. We were (very) lucky to have seen Pygmy Elephants as we were travelling onto our next destination which really ended our stay on a massive high. The staff at the resort are very friendly and helpful and cannot do enough to make your stay with them pleasant and enjoyable. I would highly recommend staying here, it is an experience that you won’t forget.
