We sat outside on the bank of the river Lugg to enjoy a drink after booking in. The seating area was divided into cosy areas divided by small bushes,a great idea. All the staff we spoke to were engaging and friendly, happy to answer question. It must have rubbed of on the guests too as those we spoke to had the same easy going attitude, something sometimes missing in chain hotels. We only decided to travel down the afternoon before and had booked the compact room which was actually very good. The bed was comfortable, everything was very clean and well presented and my significant other told me to mention the items like shower caps that she says are becoming rare in chain hotels but were provided in the well appointed and spacious bathroom. The food was excellent with some unusual offerings both in the evening and at breakfast. The extensive gardens the veg and cooked fruit came from were accessible to view and we were able to ask the gardener about what she was growing. So good to see genuine home made products and the marmalade on really nice toast at breakfast was a treat to taste. Sadly I was too full to request more toast to enjoy it on. If I had one complaint its that I could not find anything to complain about :-) A lovely place to stay.

Fantastic Sunday stay and earlt dinner. Booked to get a little break from Birmingham and this was an absolute treat. Beautifully situated nr the River Lugg we stayed in the Beechenbank lodge. The warm service, three course dinner and breakfast were all exceptional and it was a very peaceful and rewarding experience. Staff wonderful. Hope to come back in the warmer months!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in the Yatton room in the main building. The room was very comfortable, with good quality bedding and toiletries and nice touches like homemade biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge rather than plastic UHT pots! The service from George and his team was so relaxed and efficient and the food was delicious with a real focus on sustainability, locally produced and minimising waste. They have a kitchen garden which produces a lot of their vegetables and some pigs and chickens too. The area is great for walking and there are lots of beautiful villages nearby including the ‘black and white village drive’

Cosy traditional but well modernised dog friendly country inn with superb service and delicious , locally sourced food. Managed (with some luck as they were busy) to book in at an hour’s notice on a Sunday afternoon with two dogs(who were welcomed with water and treats). Small menu-usually a good sign and it was in this case-of which our party of four sampled quite a selection. We had, between us, roast beef, local free range chicken, hake and celeriac steak. Four clean plates and four happy customers. Blue cheese ice cream made with cheese from a nearby dairy was delicious as was a panna cotta. Wine by the glass was more than acceptable as were the beer and cider. This wasn’t our first visit -the last being equally good-and it won’t be our last. Highly recommended and worth driving to.

Beautiful property, kind staff, delicious food. Worth the trip out here. You can rent a car (easy parking) or travel by taxi. There are areas to walk, and there’s a larger garden out back you can wander around in. Ideal place to relax and recharge. We enjoyed several meals here- local ingredients and skilled chef. Will be back for sure!

We stayed here for one night recently, due to needing an overnight approximately half-way between home and our short-break destination. One should bear in mind that this is a country pub with accommodation, and a rather good restaurant. (Restaurant reviewed separately.) The Riverside will appeal to those who are looking for something different, off the beaten track with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Pros - Amicable hosts. - A place with lots of character. - Garden rooms are ideal for walkers/dog owners, and are very comfortable. - Excellent restaurant, with service on point. - Great breakfast – quality ingredients. - Only a 20 minute pleasant drive from Ludlow. - A relaxing ambience. Cons - Not straightforward for those with mobility issues. - The garden rooms are not cheap at £220 a night B&B (whilst the King doubles are decent value at £140 per night B&B). - Parking can be a problem if busy. We would certainly return to eat at the restaurant and if we were travelling with our dog.

This hotel was brilliant. We stayed in one of the garden rooms, the covenhope. It was quiet and separate from other rooms, and had decking with a table and chairs to sit outside. It was spacious inside, and excellent shower. The restaurant was very good, food was outstanding. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this inn highly.

Wow, The Riverside Inn is the most quaint, cosy beautiful place to stay. My room smells delightful, it's clean and it even has a fridge with fresh milk and water in. I was welcomed with a wonderful smile and even taken to the room. Then I went down for my evening meal, huge compliments to the chef, my meal was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. So tasty, sauces and garnish made it perfection. I'd highly recommend the Hake. Thank you and I can't wait to come back.

If I could give this place six stars I would! Cannot fault it. Location - lovely quiet wooded valley on the banks of the river, with outdoor seating right on the riverbank. Service- second to none, from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. General Manager George really understands the meaning of customer service, trains the staff to the same high standard, and delivers 110%. Room- spacious, comfortable, lots of nice little touches and attention to detail. Great shower. Food- Chef Andy really understands food! Nice menus, great flavours, everything well cooked and well presented. This is not your average pub grub by any stretch . Ambience- lovely! Whether in the bar area or restaurant area. It’s a lovely old building with a nice homely vibe, very cosy and with seating areas that allow for quiet privacy. Very nicely decorated. Summary- what a great find! Highly recommend and would love to return
