Quintessa Hotel Kokura Comic&Books

Stayed overnight after a ferry trip from Osaka. The bus pickup point is just down the road from the hotel, which made it very convenient. This was the first hotel I’ve stayed at that offered both free breakfast and dinner. The food options were a little limited, but it was still a nice bonus and definitely better than having nothing included. Overall, a convenient and good-value stay.

I loved this hotel when I first saw it, it’s exactly like it’s advertised, there is a whole shelves of comics in the lobby and you can bring them to your room and read ! The breakfast is also very thoughtful and delicious! I booked this place because I want to visit Mojiko and Shimonoseki, not to mention personally I think Kokura has better shopping experience than Hakata, with lesser tourists and you can get the items that are always out of stock in other big city! One negative side during Friday night there are a lot of drunk people walking like zombie around the station 😸 and I got slightly lost to get back to the hotel at night, the front desk staff is helpful and friendly.

The hotel was really easy to get to from the train station, with plenty of konbini nearby, which made it super convenient to grab any little things I needed during my stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and always made me feel welcome. The curry at the hotel restaurant was also delicious! It was the perfect hearty meal to fill up on after long days of travelling and exploring. Overall, a really convenient and comfortable place to stay.

Over $100 a night due to the firework display. No given information on the show. Tiny room for 2 people, smallest of the whole stay. Rooms didnt even have a card key, but a physical card, and you have to give it back to reception every time you leave. Very near to the station.

I stayed there on the 11th floor for two days, from Thursday to Saturday. Noise wasn't a problem at all. Overall, the hotel was okay, except for a dirty coverlet with a blood stain and some dirt. I asked the front desk to help with it, and they fixed the issue. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were included for free, but I didn't eat there, so I can't comment on the food. The dining area was clean and tidy. In the room, the bed was a good size—not small—and there was a standard desk and chair, which worked well for me. Considering the price and the location—just a 5-10 minute walk to the train station—the hotel was pretty decent.

Easy access from Kokura Station and free curry for morning and dinner. Staff was friendly and quick response to sort out questions.
