"It was better than I expected. The location is relatively safe in Rio. It is surrounded by supermarkets, restaurants, and pharmacies. It only takes a few minutes to reach the beach. I feel very satisfied. I don't care about the atmosphere of a youth hostel. There aren't many people living here, and it's generally reserved. It's just like a hotel, not quite like a youth hostel. The older man at the front desk is very nice. Although he doesn't speak English, he is very enthusiastic every time. If I go there again, I will choose to stay again."

"This property has the potential to be amazing, but it needs a few key updates. The location is fabulous, the staff is excellent, and the restaurant is great both in terms of service and food quality. The room was spacious, and the balcony was unbeatable. If you only speak English, you can get by staying here because all of the staff speak excellent English. We encountered a problem when the showerhead broke off, but the repairman came reasonably quickly to replace it, and he was very polite and not disruptive. We ordered room service, and Dom Rio, the hotel’s restaurant, delivered it quickly. I had the filet which was cooked properly to the correct temperature (medium rare). My fiancé had the alfredo pasta which she liked a lot. The breakfast had a huge selection, and everything tasted good. The only thing keeping this hotel from earning top marks is the general state of much of the decor in the rooms. The curtains look shabby and dirty from moisture, and the wood of the cabinets is warped also. It is very hard to maintain a room that is constantly exposed to salt water and ocean breeze, but the materials chosen have not stood up to age. I would recommend staying here if you are interested in staying in Barra at a nice but reasonably priced hotel, but don’t expect the finest luxury. Expect a very large, fairly clean room with a comfortable bed and an amazing view."

"We were not informed at check-in that drinks and snacks in the minibar would be charged. There was only a card in the room that stated that a coffee capsule costs the equivalent of around €1.60 - nothing more. Accordingly, we helped ourselves to the minibar (mainly water). We stayed in the hotel for a total of 8 nights, towards the end of our stay we were charged for all the snacks and water (around 2 euros per 330 ml bottle). When we asked why we weren't told about this from the start or why there was NOTHING like that to be found in our room (apart from the note about the coffee capsule), we received no answer and had to pay the entire amount, whether or not 8 days was of course not a small amount. Because the colleagues at the reception didn't speak good English or could barely speak English, the service was correspondingly subpar. In a hotel like this it should actually be assumed that the colleagues at the reception can speak English. Conclusion: no recommendation, for the money spent there are far better hotels that are worth the money."

"The hotel area is very pleasant, with several places to spend time, including a heated pool. The breakfast is very good with a good variety of options, worth the additional price charged. The restaurant and convenience store do not have many options and the prices are high. The rooms do not seem very well maintained, some are very moldy, the bathrooms are small and a lot of water splashes during a shower. The rooms are also very small with no structure for organizing luggage and clothes, making stays of a week or more uncomfortable. In addition, the lighting in the room is also not very good. The location is reasonable, it is difficult to get to other parts of the city without using a taxi."

"The Atlantic Ocean is right outside the window, and the rolling waves and the birds and airplanes flying overhead are a beautiful sight in themselves. There are bicycles available for free rent for 2 hours outside the hotel, and riding along the dedicated bike path along the shore would be very pleasant, but unfortunately I didn't have time to try it."
