Gili Trawangan Hotels with Kitchens

"My recent stay at Lumi hotel was enjoyable in many respects. The room quality was excellent clean, and very comfortable. The pool and common areas were well-maintained, and the location is fantastic for catching the sunset. However, I feel compelled to address a consistent observation regarding the level of service provided. While the staff were generally polite, I noticed a distinct and recurring prioritization of Caucasian/Western guests over those of Asian descent. I recognize that providing excellent service is challenging, but true hospitality means making every single person feel equally seen and valued, regardless of their nationality or appearance. The staff should treat all guests with the same high standard of enthusiasm and attention."

"This was a treat as it’s a birthday celebration but it soon turned into a series of unfortunate events. The service and staff are amazing but their rooms have a serious bug problem. We woke up in the middle of the night to find our pillows covered with winged bugs that looked like ants, they were in the pillow and on the pillow, upon inspection there were more on the headboard and on the sofa by the window. We started to also notice dust piles on the floor in the room too, so we suspect they are eating at the wood. It was pretty alarming to find and have bugs crawling on your bed and we soon found out it was on our bags too. A staff member was quick to come to our room to inspect but the main team have already gone home. They allowed us to switch rooms but it looks like the problem is in the other room too. By the bed, more dust piles and on the sofa more bugs. It’s midnight so we sprayed the bed with bug spray and hope no more will crawl on us. As well as this their sink was blocked. We are both adventurous people, slept in the rainforest before, camped etc so we are not scared of bugs but when these could be termites or carpenter ants, our biggest worry is bringing them home. It’s not a nice situation for them either given their buildings are 200 years old. The next morning comes and the situation was not handled like a luxury hotel would. No one came to speak to us about it and no apology until I mentioned it at reception. The room they moved us to was also a smaller one so we effectively paid for a bigger room that we couldn’t stay in, this also wasn’t mentioned. There were positives like free bike usage, good cocktails, board games in lobby and a clean pool but I wouldn’t say this is a luxury hotel but more like a 3 star hotel with a 5 star mask. All in all, a birthday that wasn’t a treat."

"Definitely not recommended if you want a night of fiery madness. I highly recommend it if you want a quiet, clean, and beautiful accommodation with children. It is located in the north and is quiet. The beach right in front is beautiful and quiet, and turtles are also common. It may not be well known, but the food at the accommodation is also excellent."

"The hotel is new and very beautiful, the staff is responsive, a good beach with sun loungers and a gorgeous sunset, far from the pier and all the bars, restaurants only. Very tasty breakfasts"

"We stayed in the big villa as there were 7 of us. Rooms were spacious & toilets were huge and clean. There were, however, 2 cockroaches that we killed over the 5D4N of our stay. Apart from that, cleanliness was good. Breakfast portions were alright. We could order an ala carte item and the rest was buffet style - pancakes, soup, fruits, nasi goreng & mee goreng (fried rice & fried noodles), fruit juices & breakfast cereals. Breakfast time is 8am-11am. Some of our dives were at 8am so they couldn't make breakfast earlier which is a minus point - Gili Trawangan is a dive island yo. They have a nice beachfront & provide beach towels for free so u can chill & order food there. Would be nice if they have taps at the front of our big villa to wash our sandy feet."

"Villa is situated not far away from the ferry terminal. About 10-15mins walk. It would be good if hotel can provide free bicycle rental service instead of charging because there is a distance to walk in from the main pavement to the villa. Service staff were very friendly and efficient. Villa itself is pretty basic, room size is abit small but the shower room is huge and pretty. The swimming pool in the middle of the villas looks gorgeous in day and at night."

"Great villa for a romantic getaway. The villa is beautiful, great private pool, well equipped kitchen to cook as well, bathroom was spacious but hope they can change the hairdryer because its too slow, friendly and helpful staff. All in all a super great stay! The cons would be the location of the villa its a bit in the inland of the island about 5-7mins bike ride from the jetty / town centre, walking can take upwards to 15mins so do rent a bike right away when you arrive at the jetty or you could ride the horse carriage if you’re not bothered by the white people none sense. When at night the roads can be dark so make sure to bring flashlights and when it’s raining the roads can be a bit muddy."

"Cocana Resort truly deserves attention, and in this review, I'd like to detail all the pros and cons that management could address. Let's start with the pros: 1. **Location:** The hotel is perfectly situated on the opposite side of the port. There's an excellent supermarket with marked prices (!) and many great restaurants nearby. 2. **Beach Club:** The beach club is also quite good. It's nice that towels are always laid out on the sunbeds, so you don't have to search for them. The sand is excellent, but entering the water (like everywhere on Gili) requires coral shoes. 3. **Room with Pool Access:** I booked a room with pool access, and it was a good choice. The room itself is a bit dated, but overall, everything is fine. 4. **Staff:** The staff are wonderful people, always helpful and informative. Special thanks to Manager Laura – she is a true professional. 5. **Welcome Amenity:** They arranged a nice present in our room upon arrival. 6. **Breakfast:** The breakfasts are a masterpiece! A la carte plus buffet and unlimited drink orders (freshly squeezed juices, coffee) – definitely 10/10. Now for the cons: 1. **Hidden Costs:** When you stay at a hotel that costs four times more than similar options, it's simply ridiculous that bikes and other small amenities aren't free. Renting a bike for $1 an hour – seriously? Why not just include it in the stay? The same goes for masks, snorkels, and other water equipment. Similarly, with the minibar – at hotels of this caliber, at least the first minibar refill is complimentary – but not here. 2. **Breakfast Incident:** There was another incident at breakfast – I found a large piece of paper in my croissant. It wasn't a major issue, but the restaurant manager apologized profusely and offered a 10% discount on dinner 🤣. This was, of course, very amusing – a simple apology would have been sufficient instead of such an offer. So, my advice to the management is to simply fix these small things and don't try to squeeze out an extra couple of bucks – it spoils the experience. Otherwise, the hotel is superb, and I genuinely want to return."
