Andaman Beach Resort Koh Jum

This is a 2 star resort. It has a beautiful location being absolute beach front with a lovely sandy beach. Staff and managment were very frinedly and helpful. The resort is showing its age and certainly needs some maintenance. Lots of concrete throughout the resort which can exacerbate the heat. My room was very basic. Air conditioning worked but the remote failed and I could not turn the unit off until the staff arrived the next morning with a new battery. Bathroom is very basic indeed. Toitet does not accept any toilet tissue being flushed. Shower was awful with very little flow of water. I only had breakfast here one morning and it was average. There are much better places to eat down the beach. Dissapointed to have staff smoking while they waited to serve the tables, smoke blew over the restaurant area. Not at all acceptable to me. It was 1800 Baht a night without breakfast. I thought this was expensive for what I recieved but it is on an island only accessible by boat. Taking all into account I would not recommend this resort.

Third visit. Went for the best room they have this time, sea front with terrace. Staff are all excellent and cannot do enough to help. Place isn't that popular with families so is nice and quiet and not overrun with kids, unlike Seasons bungalows. Great location, food is fine, prices are reasonable. One warning - the floor in the dining area is lethal bare foot. I've broken a toe before, and this time I scrubbed the skin off the front of my big toe when tripping. The floor tiles are spaced out and the filler is concrete. It is the grippiest surface known to man. If you catch / stub a toe when walking, it will grip, and either peel the skin, or break. This is compounded by the fact the tree roots have made the floor very uneven in places. Just be warned. I'd keep my shoes on if I were you. One of the staff does...
