Moving here from Sala was a huge downgrade. They claim to have a sea view, but all I could see was a tiny sliver of ocean, mostly obscured by trees. It's incredibly inconvenient to get anywhere. They charged 1200 THB for a fishing trip, and then an extra 1000 THB for pickup and drop-off, which is ridiculous considering how far out of the way this place is. 1. The front desk staff seemed friendly at first, but then became dismissive. They said they'd see us off at the door when we checked out, but they were too busy chatting amongst themselves. 2. The room wasn't very clean; there was dust behind the mirror and sink. 3. I ordered room service, specifically curry and rice, and they forgot to bring the rice. 4. I booked a dinner reservation for 6 PM, but they told the restaurant 7 PM. Also, their app for operations and replies was slow. There aren't many Chinese tourists on Koh Samui, and it feels like they're generally more polite to foreigners. Choose this place with caution.

The infinity pool and private beach offer breathtaking views, especially at sunset!! Every day, the orange seascape is incredibly therapeutic. You absolutely must experience the sunset at InterContinental when you come to Samui 🌅. Remember to book in advance for the famous rooftop AIR BAR; the per-person cost is quite reasonable. 🏨 Stay Experience | So Comfortable, You Won't Want to Leave Basic rooms start from 70 square meters, with elegant decor and an open, airy feel. The interior is well-maintained, showing no signs of being a hotel that's over a decade old. Upgrading to a sea-view room offers an exceptional view. The nights are incredibly quiet, with only the sound of the waves, ensuring a perfect night's sleep! The service is gentle and meticulous, making the whole experience very relaxing. 🍽 Hotel Dining | Never Bored, Even Without Leaving the Hotel The breakfast offers a rich variety, served semi-buffet style, covering Chinese, Western, and Thai cuisine. Finding an outdoor table to dine with a sea view is delightful. Staying for two consecutive days, we noticed the dishes were rotated, which was a nice touch. For dinner, I recommend the cliffside Thai restaurant (around RMB 150-200 per person) or the beachfront BBQ (RMB 200+ per person). 🥘 Eating Nearby | Not Remote at All! Super Convenient Many worry about the InterContinental being isolated, but my actual stay tells you: not at all! ✅ There are tons of local eateries right outside the hotel, serving authentic and affordable Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai, and Green Papaya Salad, offering much better value than hotel dining. I recommend I-TALAY, a 10-minute walk from the hotel along the beach to the right. It costs about 50-100 RMB per person. The ambiance is simple, but it offers sea views and delicious food at an unbeatable value. Alternatively, THE ISLAND VIEW, to the left of the hotel, has even better Thai food and is very photogenic, costing around 100 RMB per person. (Tip: The hotel staff knows this restaurant, so you can take a hotel buggy part of the way and walk the remaining 10 minutes. After your meal, you can ask the hotel to send a car to pick you up on the way back, which is very convenient.) There are no convenience stores or shops directly around the hotel, but there are scheduled free shuttles to the beach and shopping malls. 💡 Stay Summary Perfect for those who love quiet relaxation, watching the sea and chasing sunsets, and avoiding crowds. Not commercialized, with a premium feel, it's the top choice for couples on vacation or those looking to unwind. If you love peace and quiet and an ocean view, the Intercontinental is a great choice and offers good value for money. The 6 pools each have their own unique charm, and I enjoyed trying a different one every day. The downside: there are no elevators or escalators throughout the hotel. To get from your room to the beach, you either need to call an electric buggy or walk down wooden stairs carved into the mountain. Since all the rooms are built on the hillside, you get fantastic views, but you do sacrifice direct beach access from your door. It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want to step right onto the beach and have easy access to lively spots, Chaweng Beach is your best bet. But we prefer peace and quiet, don't like crowds, and just wanted to relax, so a place nestled remotely in the mountains was perfect for us. The sunsets are incredible!
