Nangyuan Island Dive Resort

I highly recommend staying at this hotel, as you'll feel like you're the only one on the island during certain hours when there are no other tourists. I also suggest booking for more than 2 nights. This is because check-in isn't until 5 PM, as the boat departs from the pier at 3:30 PM. For early check-out, the complimentary boat also leaves very early, so you won't get the hotel's advertised check-out time. The free boat schedule doesn't align with the hotel's stated check-in and check-out times.

The hotel provides pier transfers. We were met on the island with a welcome drink and checked in just 10 minutes later. The room was excellent, and the bedding was pristine. Everything we needed was provided. The staff were friendly and helpful with all our inquiries. We went for dinner, and the portions were generous, the presentation was superb, and everything tasted delicious. We loved everything – the island, the staff, and the accommodation! I highly recommend everyone to stay on this island! After 3 PM, the island is pretty much all yours, as there are very few other guests. The snorkeling is fantastic, and we even saw sharks swimming near the shore in the mornings and evenings. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

My favorite island ❤️ Tourists flock to the island during the day, but from early morning until 10:00 AM and after 2:30 PM, it's absolutely superb. You can catch the sunrise from the viewpoint in the morning and go snorkeling, feeling like you have the whole place to yourself. The staff are incredibly friendly. There are two restaurants on the island, one serving European cuisine and the other Thai. They always make sure to ask if you've had dinner. There's a free transfer to the island from Koh Tao pier twice a day. You just need to contact the hotel the day before to confirm the time and departure point. This isn't my first time staying on the island, and I absolutely love it!

We stayed for 3 nights, which felt like more than enough time before heading to Koh Tao. We had plenty of time to visit the viewpoint and take photos everywhere without the crowds of day-trippers. It truly felt like we were on a deserted island! The room had everything we needed: toiletries, hot water, a fridge, a kettle, tea, and coffee. Housekeeping was daily. Breakfast was included, even though it wasn't mentioned in the booking. For breakfast, they bring you a sheet where you mark what you'd like them to prepare (the menu is consistent, but you can choose how your eggs are cooked and your coffee – the coffee seemed to be instant). There are two restaurants on the island: one on the hotel premises where breakfast is served, offering European cuisine. The other is further down, near the 'spit,' and serves Thai food with more reasonable prices; day-trippers often ate there. Prices are higher than on Koh Tao for obvious reasons, as there are no shops. However, there's a free daily shuttle to Koh Tao and back, which is convenient for longer stays. For example, a 0.33L beer on the island costs 120 baht, a mango shake is 150 baht, and dishes start from 300+ baht.

The island itself is a gem, and you really should spend at least one night there. That way, you can experience everything at a leisurely pace, truly enjoy it, and avoid the crowds. Now, about the hotel itself: the restaurant is excellent, though there are a few quirks. For instance, the standard rooms lack shelves or any space for your belongings. The staff, however, are incredibly responsive and pleasant. What I didn't like: We stayed in cabin K1. It was clean and newly renovated, but getting to it involved a horrible, dangerous staircase with knee-high steps and no handrail. Many other areas have modern, proper stairs, and renovations are ongoing, so perhaps this cabin will get an upgrade too. The free boat transfer was another ordeal. I was shocked when, at the port, we had to jump from the pier onto the narrow ledge of the boat's second deck, then climb over a railing to get to a seat. This is extremely unsafe! It's puzzling why a hotel where the cheapest room starts at $150 (without breakfast) can't arrange a safe transfer.

This was a super stay. A gorgeous island. Sharks and lots of fish in the sea. The restaurant on the hill is magnificent. Everything was simply superb!
