Kosaka Hotels with Airport pickup service

We spent a couple of nights at the Hotel Towadaso on our latest trip to Japan and found it to be a decent base for visiting the area. It is quite a big hotel and caters to the numerous bus tours that roll through the area, so it has a bit of a mass tourism feel to it which we didn’t like. The location is OK, just a 5-minute walk to the lake front, however not a very inspiring location. The hotel was clean and well-presented, ****s under control, but with an air of faded grandeur. The reception staff were all good, very helpful and spoke a little bit of English. Our Japanese style room was lovely, very large and airy, with plenty of areas for storage and room to spread out (but drastically lacking hooks to hang things on. Our futon bed was comfortable and we had a good night’s sleep. The room was clean and well-maintained. The walls however are a bit thin, so you are able to hear your neighbors engaged in conversation, and also a bit of noise from the hallway. There is a number of restaurants on site. The one we ate our dinners at wasn’t all that great. The food was quite bland and tasteless and not much that was even recognizable. Luckily we had some extra food with us to supplement with. The breakfast, on the other hand, was quite good, but you eat it in this massive industrial type cafeteria that is obviously geared up for the mass bus tours. Good food, zero ambience. The hotel wifi was intermittent, almost unusable in the evenings, so we just switched to 4G data. So overall, not a bad experience, but we’d probably look for something else if we were to stay in the area again.

I stayed with my daughter and wife. The building is nice, old and well maintained. The nostalgic atmosphere that cannot be expressed in current architecture is good. The quality of the hot springs is also good. My skin is in good condition. I was very satisfied with the content of the meal. I eat more than ordinary people, but I am satisfied with the amount. It was said that it was full on the day, but I was able to spend a calm and good time. I would like to come again in the autumn leaves and snow season.

Simple, no frills, comfortable ryokan set in a very secluded beautiful narrow wooded valley with a rushing stream outside the windows. Be aware: the smell of paraffin from the lamps is unmistakable, pervasive, catches in your throat, and your clothes will smell of it after you have left. Having got that out of the way, everything else is makes it a really special experience. There is no wifi, phone signal, no television, so you can slow down, relax and appreciate the onsen and the nature surrounding you. The meals were healthy and delicious, featuring fresh foraged ingredients. You will not go hungry. We requested vegetarian meals a few days in advance. Eating the meal in the tatami dining room in the lamplight and watching the light fading outside was beautiful. You will make up your own futons and there are shared toilet and tooth cleaning facilities. Everything is spotlessly clean. There are several baths: two with a view of a delicate waterfall, which are not very hot, so good for summer, a mixed sex rotemburo with times for women only, an ofuro in the main building, and 2 cypress baths in a cypress building with a view of the river, and the water is gloriously hot. Plus an outdoor footbath. All are lit with atmospheric lanterns. There is a car park a short walk up the hill from the ryokan. The old wooden main building is full of character and decorated with items of local folk art. There are some small areas of garden planted with native plants near the entrance, but the rest of the surroundings are just the area's flora and fauna.

I stopped on the way back from the ferry terminal from Hokkaido. I was surprised that it was crowded with more than I thought. Dinner is a Viking, so there is only early and late hours, and I made it early. Alcohol is available in the lounge and juice sweets are also available for children. The elevator to the restaurant was crowded with １ units, but the restaurant was empty and I was able to choose slowly. It is a pretty mountain dish. There was also a kiritanpo pot and it was delicious. There were many Japanese style things such as dumplings and kuzukiri. The bath was good with an open-air bath where the river was heard. The water in the refrigerator in the room was very delicious. In fact, I booked a special room Japanese room + western room with a bath in the source, but when I made a mistake in the day and rebooked, it became a room without hot springs, so I would like to stay in a room with hot springs next time.

Traveling alone in Michinoku, the hotel on the second day. The parking lot is wide and easy to park. The reception is smooth and the response is very good. The lobby is large and comfortable. The room is on the top floor and has a good view and is well cleaned. On this day, the baths will be crowded from 20:00 to 21:00 because it overlaps with the school trip of junior high school students, so I went to the hot spring at around 18:00. Indoor bath, open-air bath and sauna. I feel happy that I can have it all to myself. The sauna is about 90 degrees and is right after the water bath. Unfortunately, there are no comfortable chairs. Find the right rock around the open-air bath and find a place to set it up. Wander while listening to the chirping of the hototogisu. The hot spring here is odorless unlike yesterday's Sukayu Onsen. But the hot springs are really nice. The entire bathhouse is well-cleaned. There is hydrogen water at the entrance, but if possible, it would be nice to have it in the dressing room so that you can rehydrate in the middle of the sauna. Smoking room is on the 1st floor. There was no breakfast or dinner this time, so it was a hotel where I would like to enjoy cooking next time. Also, it would be nice to have morning coffee in the lobby, but it would be nice to be able to carry it around. Thank you.

It was a scattered 々 stay in the worst front staff and filthy room. In the cover of the sealing light in the room, countless insect corpses, under the bed, dust and hair balls that make you feel bad when you look. It seems that it has not been cleaned for many years. The bedside table has a burnt mark of cigarettes. It smells like cigarettes even though it is a non-smoking room, and the elevator smells like cigarettes. I think the front desk staff can respond a little better even if it is an attitude that doesn't seem to be a customer service business. There were good points such as hot spring baths and free ramen services, but it was not possible to compensate for negative points. I will not use it again.
