The Magellan Sutera Resort

Darren at the front desk was incredibly helpful and attentive. He picked a wonderful room for us, which made our trip so much better. The room facilities were excellent, and the ocean view from outside was absolutely beautiful!

Visited in early September, it was extremely crowded and a bit noisy because of that. I found the room facilities to be a bit old-fashioned. The hotel has a great view, and I would recommend it more if it weren't so packed.

The room hygiene was pretty good. The environment was mostly fine, quite suitable for taking photos and checking in. There weren't many people watching the sunset in the afternoon, so overall it was good. As for service, it was okay after check-in, and they offered luggage storage. However, the hotel's policy of a unified check-in time at 3:00 PM, with no early check-in allowed, feels a bit inhumane. Are all rooms only cleaned by 3:00 PM? Shouldn't guests be notified for check-in as soon as a room is ready? We even had to queue for breakfast in the morning. I was aware that the facilities were old beforehand, so that was acceptable. You can snorkel at the hotel, and there are quite a lot of fish. Also, you can see sea urchins by the beach next to one of the swimming pools.

The resort's overall environment is indeed beautiful, situated right by the coast, perfect for enjoying sunsets, swimming, snorkeling, and cycling. There's also a private pier for island hopping. The scenery is absolutely stunning and great for taking beautiful photos, especially for women. The in-room facilities are quite old, and there's a musty smell inside. However, the exterior environment is excellent, with soft lawns and a variety of entertainment facilities. As for service, for a five-star resort, I'd say it's almost non-existent. There's an internal tour available, but I wouldn't highly recommend it; the value for money is quite low.

The overall facilities are quite old, but the resort environment is decent and the hotel views are great. Breakfast, however, was very disappointing. The selection was limited, and the taste was just mediocre. If you step away from your table for even a moment, birds will descend on your breakfast, which is quite disgusting. The hotel doesn't offer free laundry service, and a can of Coke costs 19 MYR.

The most satisfying hotel I stayed at in Kota Kinabalu. The front desk helped me choose a room with a great view, and luggage storage was convenient. Avoiding peak season made the price very reasonable, and it's no worse than the Shangri-La.

The hotel environment is really good, you can tell it's an established hotel. The location is also excellent, making it convenient to get to the airport or go out for food and shopping. There's a wide variety of breakfast options, but the taste is just average, so breakfast isn't really worth it. However, the hotel overall exceeded my expectations. I'd likely book this place again next time I visit, preferably without breakfast included.

First off, the room was spacious and had a small balcony; swimwear and other items would air dry overnight. Secondly, the pool was huge, perfect for both adults and kids to enjoy water activities without leaving the hotel. There's also a small segregated area in the natural sea where kids can snorkel. Magellan Jetty is right within the hotel, so you can sleep in, then head out for island hopping and snorkeling, and still catch a same-day tour. It's great for relaxing, especially if you haven't made prior arrangements. I personally love this kind of resort-style hotel. While the hotel's drainage and shower systems might not be the latest models, the water pressure is excellent, and there's a continuous supply of hot water. I was too lazy to move hotels and repack, so I stayed here for all three nights. The average price was 1400 RMB per night, though room types affect the price.

The environment is truly beautiful, and the rooms are large with a lovely style. However, the facilities are a bit old. Breakfast was just average. While the lobby is grand, it was a bit warm. Check-in efficiency was low, and despite many Chinese tourists, there didn't seem to be many staff who could speak Chinese.
