Hotel the Gate Kumamoto

It's close to AMU Plaza and Kumamoto Station, and the hotel has an aquarium, so it was perfect for workcation! I'll stay here again if I have the chance!

I thought it was a dormitory just by looking at the photos of the accommodation, but it was really nice because it was almost a single room. The locker is long enough to fit an extra bag underneath. You can bring your own indoor clothes in the hallway leading to your room, and you can take your own earplugs, razor, and toothbrush set at the reception. Large towels and indoor slippers are provided in the room, and new ones are provided every day in a bag on a hook next to the door. Recommended for those staying multiple nights. Next time I come, I plan to re-book here as well. I think they also clean the room if it is more than 3 days. I was disappointed because I only worked for 2 days, but it was nice because there were shower rooms, toilets, and sinks. I liked that I could bring my own mat to the shower room and it looked clean. There is a place to plug in chargers in the dining area, and it is like a tatami mat, but it was so busy in the evening that it was hectic. There was cool water, an electric stove, and a hot water pot on one side, so there was no problem eating. Reception staff are available until midnight. There's a bar, so it's open in the evening, and I think you order by getting a ticket from a vending machine. I didn't have time, so I didn't enjoy it, but I'll try it later.

I was close to Kumamoto Station and the room was available, so I was given an upgrade. The room was clean and I was able to rest comfortably! Highly recommended for solo travelers or those who just need a good night's sleep.

The location is very convenient, about 2-3 minutes walk from Kumamoto JR. The staff has a good service attitude and has no problem communicating in English. Share a space with multiple people, but each room has its own separate partitions and cabinets. The bathroom and shower room are very clean, with shower gel, shampoo, towels, clean clothes, disposable slippers, earplugs and disposable toothbrushes provided. Luggage can be stored for free. The only bad thing is that it will be noisy at night/morning, after all, dozens of people use the same space without separate rooms. It is not recommended for people with poor sleep quality, or who need to prepare earplugs/headphones with strong noise reduction. The overall value for money is very good, and it is recommended for people who want to stay in Kumamoto for a day or two~
