Hotel Carna A

The hotel is a bit of a walk from the station, but it's conveniently located close to the downtown area. I was on the bottom bunk bed, and it took some getting used to as I kept bumping my head. It was great to have enough space to stand and change clothes on the outside of the bunk. The large bath and sauna were a plus, and the water pressure was excellent. They also provided amenities like towels and toothbrushes, and even pajamas, so you could stay here with minimal luggage.

I stayed in a capsule. The floor where the rooms were had a slight musty smell. The mattress was clean and comfortable though.

This is one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed at. The bed itself is fine, no issues there. However, the first problem is that far too much light from outside gets into the capsules, which can make it hard to sleep. Second, they force you to leave your capsule from 10 AM to 3 PM for "cleaning" purposes, even if you're staying multiple nights. The only way to stay inside is to pay ¥1500! On top of that, the automatic taps barely work and are not very sensitive, making them very difficult to use. To top it all off, there are no separate shower stalls, only a public onsen-style bath where you can wash yourself. What's more, the price is ridiculously high given the services offered, and the hostel is over a 40-minute walk from Kumamoto Station. I absolutely do not recommend it. It's rare for me to leave such a review, but this hostel really got on my nerves.

It was okay, but the room was a bit dark.
