CitiGO Hotel (Old Street Kunming, Cuihu Park)

Great value for money, convenient location, and attentive service. They provided an extra bed for free, and since it was close to my child's birthday, the hotel even prepared a small gift. Such a thoughtful touch, thank you! Also, the breakfast was really tasty.

I don't know where the good reviews came from; there's live streaming happening downstairs every day. First, a disclaimer: the staff were very nice. This is the worst hotel I've ever seen, especially after staying in B&Bs before. This place is a world apart – the room was small, noisy, and right by the road. The staff kindly moved me to a less noisy room, but it still felt incredibly low-quality 😅. The hairdryer looked like it cost 15 yuan, and I honestly have never stayed in such a bad hotel, especially for 400-500 yuan a night. Oh my god. Here are its crimes: 1. This hotel is incredibly stingy with lighting; there's only one small round lamp by the bed. 2. They provided an ancient TV from '82 📺. 3. Most hotels provide four pillows, but they offer two high pillows and one low pillow. So if two people need a low pillow, one person is out of luck. 4. No toilet seat cover – negative point. 5. The drawer blocks the door from opening, as shown in the picture. 6. The duvet is too thin; I felt cold even with the air conditioning off, cold enough to catch a cold. 7. The power outlets are poorly placed. 8. The lobby and restaurant are combined and very noisy. 9. The bathroom isn't wet/dry separated. 10. The room is dim and feels very oppressive.

Great location, facing Cuihu Lake on one side and close to Wenlin Street on the other. The breakfast was good, featuring steam pot chicken. The room wasn't large but had everything needed. The butler service was excellent, providing delicious late-night snacks and even outdoor movies in the evening. Highly recommended.

The hotel's biggest advantage: it's very close to Cuihu Park. Because reviews mentioned small room sizes, I opted for an executive suite, which is 40 square meters, and the size was acceptable. Food deliveries were brought by a robot, so I didn't have to go pick them up myself. The room cleanliness was also okay. One minor complaint: the window next to the bed had no curtains, only a white sunshade. At night, lights would shine in, and in the morning, the light came in very early. Traffic around Cuihu and the old street is quite bad during holidays. We had a large suitcase, but getting it up the hotel's坡 (ramp) was very difficult, and there was no staff available to help. It was mostly self-service.

The service is great, and they offer laundry service. They even provided a complimentary travel photoshoot, though I didn't use it. The breakfast was quite rich, and there was a late-night snack option. The location is excellent, right outside Cuihu Park, probably just a two or three-minute walk.

First off, the location is incredibly convenient, right by Cuihu Lake. Getting around by bus, walking, biking, or taxi is super easy from here – that's a big plus. The room itself was tiny, and the soundproofing was mediocre. The tatami bed was against three walls, and I still don't understand what that black 'blob' was for on the first night – maybe to cover a pipe or something? It made the room feel very cramped. For the next two days, they moved me to a slightly brighter room, which required a 'member upgrade,' even though it seemed like the exact same room type – I don't get that. The mattress was decent, but there was a lot of dust, especially by the window. Also, as many other guests mentioned, the shower and toilet areas aren't separated. A shower curtain isn't enough to stop the water from flowing all over the toilet area – a clear design flaw. Then there were either water stains on the ceiling or mildew spots on the shower caulking, and the ventilation felt pretty poor. The service was actually very good, but the facilities were just average. Overall value for money was okay, with the good location being its main selling point.

The room met expectations; the housekeeper contacted me in advance. Although small, it was sufficient for a short one-night stay. The highlight is its convenient location right next to Cuihu Lake, making it easy to get around and find places to eat. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night and left early the next morning, so I didn't get to enjoy a late-night snack or extended check-out. Overall, it was a suitable choice for my trip, and I would recommend it to friends. However, upon returning home and opening the complimentary souvenir, I found that the flower cake had expired, which was a bit disappointing; it would have been better not to include it.

The staff are incredibly lovely. The location by Cuihu Lake is fantastic, perfect for a run. It's very quiet at night, and the surrounding bars are excellent and fun. I recommend the rooms with a courtyard. You can enjoy tea or smoke in the courtyard, and from there, you can even see Cuihu Lake.

The room layout is well-designed. The lobby on the first floor is open from 7 AM to 9 AM, and the breakfast offers a good variety (though it's an additional charge). Toiletries are convenient, and all lighting and curtain controls are accessible from the bedside. The blackout curtains ensure a comfortable night's sleep. Hot water and showering facilities are great, and there are complimentary drinks available. I'll definitely be back again.
