KUN MING UPLAND INTERNATIONAL YOUTH HOSTEL

This is an international youth hostel, and there are indeed many foreigners here. The common areas have a great vibe, and the food and drinks are very affordable. It's super convenient, just a 2-minute walk to the East Gate of Cuihu Lake. If I could, I'd love to book it for two months next summer! Oh, a friendly heads-up: the room type I booked doesn't have air conditioning, only a fan. But it was quite cool, so the fan was perfectly fine. I stayed in room 506; the bed was very soft, the shower had good pressure and heated up quickly. The toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, and shower gel were all good, and the toilet paper was quite thick. The only minor drawback was that the electric fan was a bit noisy. My friend stayed in 606; their water pressure was slightly lower, but the fan was silent, though the bed was a little firmer. Overall, I'm very satisfied! The washing machine and dryer are also a nice touch. All the staff speak English. While it's called a youth hostel, there are actually people of all age groups staying here.

The food at the third-floor restaurant was pretty good, reasonably priced and freshly cooked. The taste was nice, perfect for solo travelers. The location is also good, very convenient for getting around. As for the room, it was decent; for a solo trip, the price for a single room was acceptable. However, there were quite a few mosquitoes, and I even caught a spider in the room. Also, the handheld showerhead in the shower couldn't be propped up properly, which was an issue. The service attitude was very good.

Came to Kunming for a short weekend trip and chose this hostel. The location is excellent and it's very budget-friendly. We stayed in a double room with a private bathroom, and there was always plenty of hot water. The room was cleaned daily. For anyone who isn't overly particular about their accommodation, this place is perfectly adequate. The hostel also has its own restaurant and bar, where many guests socialize or work, including quite a few foreign travelers. The food in the restaurant is decent and reasonably priced, with single meals costing 20-30 RMB. However, it's primarily Western cuisine, so those who prefer Chinese food might not find it to their taste. The only slight drawback is the poor soundproofing in the rooms. Our room was directly opposite the communal washbasins, and we could clearly hear other guests washing up and blow-drying their hair. If you're a light sleeper, remember to bring earplugs!
