Newport Hotel Kunshan

I stayed here last year, and with the buffet included, it offered pretty good value for money. This time, my main reason for staying was the swimming pool. However, the pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages, with quite a bit of algae and floating debris. The room cleanliness was acceptable. When I went for breakfast at 9:30 AM, the selection was a bit limited.

The front desk staff were excellent and very prompt in resolving any issues.

The room was spotless, and the staff provided warm and friendly service. The breakfast was very satisfying, with a wide array of options.

The room was quite spacious and very clean. The mattress was incredibly soft and comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. It also came with a bathtub, though I wished the shower stall itself was a bit larger. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the beef and chicken were delicious. The plain congee with pork floss was a wonderful nostalgic treat, reminding me of my childhood. There was some construction going on next door, but the hotel thoughtfully provided earplugs.

Breakfast ends at 10 AM, but by 9:30 AM, the buffet spread was already quite bare, giving the impression that items were not being refilled. The made-to-order noodles were acceptable, but I only discovered the mini wontons were available after specifically asking. The hotel didn't seem very busy, and its facilities are a bit dated. It's a 7-minute drive to Monterey Park, and the nearest mall is a 10-minute walk away. Hotel parking is free.

I purchased a pre-sale package that included tickets to Tinglin Garden, along with breakfast and dinner. The front desk service was excellent; they meticulously explained the different room types and provided the same great service, even for a pre-sale booking. They did their best to accommodate requests like a high-floor room and late check-out. Hearing that my child had a class, Tu Xinmin from the catering department thoughtfully brought yogurt and fruit for them. We're very grateful for this kind gesture. All the ladies at the front desk provided impeccable service. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but they offered delicious wontons, and the lady preparing them was very warm and friendly. The dinner included in the package featured items like salmon, conch, and even a mini hotpot – more than enough to fill us up! The staff were also very prompt in clearing tables. However, the hotel clearly shows its age. You definitely won't find smart home features in the rooms, though they do come equipped with a refrigerator, a small safe, and a bathtub. Parking was also convenient. Overall, if you're not picky about modern amenities, it offers excellent value for money.

I booked a hotel package on Ctrip that included breakfast and a buffet dinner, and it was excellent value for money. The restaurant staff were also incredibly warm and attentive. During dinner, they were prompt in clearing plates and refilling the buffet. At breakfast, they even helped serve hot items like noodle soup and wontons from the live cooking station. Highly recommended!

In today's fiercely competitive hotel industry, where guests increasingly prioritize lavish amenities and modern decor, I find myself paying more attention to the 'invisible' value-adds. New Port Hotel, a long-standing five-star establishment in Kunshan, despite its interiors showing their age, consistently impresses with the truly heartfelt smiles from its front desk staff and the incredibly prompt room service.
