Fauchon Hotel Kyoto Reviews

The Fauchon was a truly great find in Kyoto. The hotel is lovely with beautiful rooms and decor.They made our 30th anniversary celebration really special. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming. They even went out of the way to help when medical attention was needed. The transportation arranged for our arrival and departure was perfect. The breakfast was a highlight of the day. The room amenities included coffee, tea, and pastries. How nice! We can’t wait to visit again. 

My wife and I booked the Classic Room for 3 nights in April 2025. We thought this was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip. From the moment you enter the hotel, you are welcomed by the hotel staff. You leave your bags with them and you walk up to a separate reception area where you are seated and offered tea and macarons. Check in is conducted while you sip your tea. After you get your keys, you go up to your room and your luggage bags are already there. We were very impressed by the reception. The room itself is fairly sizeable and offers a cabinet of Fauchon snacks. We had a good view of the alley behind the hotel that was lined with Sakura trees. We could also see the mountains in the distance. The location of the hotel is also great. It is located about a 5-10 minutes walk from downtown Kyoto and about a 5 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-gojo station. We also had breakfast which included a free flow selection of bread and pastries like French croissant, baguette and brioche. You also get a fruit plate, salad, and omelette. If you stay for more than 1 night, you also get a premium breakfast menu for your 2nd night onwards. We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we are in Kyoto.

Great room and view, lovely snacks and tea at the mini bar. Good location. What we thought could be better was the breakfast options. Coffee was also poor.

I had an excellent stay at Fauchon. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The hotel staff were also incredibly attentive and polite throughout our stay. My room was small but comfortable, featuring modern and luxurious amenities that were stylishly pink in colour and comfortable bedding. The attention to detail in the room was impressive, with thoughtful touches including a whole array of complimentary cookies and cake. Breakfast was served as a set menu and selection was limited and basic but expertly prepared and presented. The hotel's location was also perfect for me because it is situated right in the heart of Kyoto yet away from the crowded spots with excellent access to public transportation. The bus station is right in front of the hotel, the nearest train station is about 10 mins walk and the hotel is approx 15 mins walk to Kawaramachi Street (shopping area). Just behind our hotel is the river and all the restaurants. Our room has the mountain view.

This luxury boutique hotel exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail is impressive. Every aspect of the guest experience has been thought through. From check-in to check-out, we felt like VIPs. The room was as beautiful as it was comfortable. Food at the Geand Café was spectacular. Perfect location, with several several buses stopping right in front of the hotel, making exploring Kyoto very convenient. Short walk to Gion and other interesting areas. The only area for inprovement would be offering a wider selection for breakfast. It was excellent, but we wished there were additional options. Will return next time I’m in Kyoto!

The room is bigger than average in Japan. Have comfortable bed and pillows. Miss Kana is very helpful and attentive.

Staff is nice and polite, room is clean and silent. Good experience.

The room was beautiful and all the services were wonderful, making for a truly comfortable hotel vacation...🎶

We were guided through check-in and check-out in a courteous manner. We were also greeted throughout our stay, which made us feel very hospitable. One thing that bothered me was that when we visited the bar, the only menu they brought us at first was the wine menu, which was a bit confusing. They didn't bring us the food and cocktail menus without us checking, so we hope you'll be careful.

I stayed at this hotel for the entire three-day trip to Kyoto. The location of the hotel is not bad. It takes a few minutes to walk to the Kamogawa River, and about ten minutes to walk to Takashimaya? Just take a walk. The variety of breakfast is incomparable to that in China. The bread is quite good. I also saw his bakery in Osaka Takashimaya. The room area is considered large in Japan, and the hygiene is also OK. Dyson hair dryer, free mask, whitening sensitive skin should be used with caution. The minibar gave a lot of small biscuits and fruits, and the taste is OK. There is no bottled water. It is said that the tap is direct drinking water and can only be boiled for drinking. The water flow of the tap is small, but the shower water pressure is enough.

French hotel style. The smell is great. It feels like home! The hardware and software are good. I will book a suite next time. The room can be bigger. Book in advance during peak season because there are few rooms.
