Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo

Got bitten by bed bugs! The upside is its proximity to Kyoto Station. However, this also means quite a bit of train noise; our 'premium' floor apparently meant we had a view of the trains. The worst part, though, was the bed bugs! Unfortunately, I got bitten. Now learning how to avoid bringing bed bugs home: Seal luggage: Place suitcases on the bathroom's tiled floor (bed bugs dislike smooth surfaces). Absolutely do not put luggage on the bed or carpet. High-temperature treatment for clothes: Wash all worn clothes in hot water above 60°C and tumble dry at high heat. For clothes that can't be washed, seal them in a plastic bag and freeze them for a few days, or thoroughly vacuum them with a powerful vacuum cleaner. Luggage treatment: Thoroughly vacuum the inside, outside, and crevices of the suitcase, then wipe it with alcohol or insecticide.

The hotel's location is super convenient; it's just a few minutes to Kyoto Station, whether you're heading to a tourist spot or catching the Shinkansen. However, make sure to confirm the correct exit from Kyoto Station beforehand – I went the wrong way the first time without navigation. Each floor has a water dispenser, ice maker, and vending machine, which is very handy.

The hotel's location is excellent, right across from Kyoto Station, and only a three-minute walk from the nearest station entrance. It's a large hotel that also accommodates tour groups, so the lobby can get quite busy during check-in and check-out times. However, there are plenty of staff members on hand, especially at the concierge. The luggage storage service is particularly convenient, with a dedicated storage room and supervised by staff – a really well-managed feature. Another great perk is that every floor has a water dispenser and ice maker, making it very easy to get water and ice. The only downside is that there's no self-service laundry facility; you have to pay for a laundry service. The hotel rooms are also quite spacious. Highly recommended!
