Our taxi pulled up alongside shuttered doors at 6am in the deserted street. Suddenly the doors swung open, and without a word a man appeared, grabbed our two suitcases in each hand and proceeded upstairs to the reception. 5 minutes later we were getting comfortable in our room on the third floor. The wonderful service continued during out 4 day stay. When we complained about the altitude the same man offered us oxygen which he allowed us to take to our room. Our bus to Copacabana was leaving at 6.30am, so he offered us a packed breakfast for the road. Our room was quite large with a big wardrobe, a fridge and 2 double beds. We were situated on the third floor. The hotel has no elevator and I found the stairs difficult, although the oxygen certainly helped. The location is not in the main tourist area, but if you want to experience authentic Bolivia, it's all happening just around the corner, a few minutes walk. Alternatively, it's 10-15 minutes walk to Sagarnaga Street, which is the main tourist area where you will find lots of hotels, hostels, cafes, restos, handcraft shops and travel agents.

Absolutely loved the hospitality here. We arrived after an overnight bus from Uyuni at about 6 am and there was someone there to check us in. WE then had the option of storing our bags or checking into our room early (check in had a fee). We opted to check in and shower and have the room so we could be comfortable for our day in La Paz. Guido checked us in an he was welcoming and friendly. We spent the day out on a Death Road bike and came back to the room. We had nice hot water and good wifi connection. Our next day we checked out (they have later check out times, which is nice) and then were able to store our bags and relax in the lounge area until our late evening flight out. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Absolutely loved the place.

This is a hotel behind a large wooden door on a narrow busy city street. You wonder what you’re in for standing outside, but when the door opens, it’s a completely different story. This hotel is full of charm and character. The floor boards creak and the rooms are like a step back in time, but they are large and comfortable and have all you need in a hotel room. In my room the bed was big and the bathroom was also spacious. There is a fridge. There is a loft of all things, with a bed where kids could sleep if you brought the family. The heater in my room was not working but the staff immediately brought an electric heater which didn’t look like much but was quite effective warming up the room. Downstairs there is a restaurant which is open to the public as well and served good food. Breakfast was included in the $US72 I paid per night. The location is in the centre of the city so everything is walking distance. Patio de Piedra was a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting this hotel to be as good as it was. It is a tremendous place to stay if in La Paz.

Stayed one night and arrived late and left very early but the little time I was there in found the service very good - they offered a packed breakfast for the morning and booked the taxi. The rooms are super - very spacious, well decorated and equipped. The hotel itself is beautiful located in a small road behind a large wooden door that opens out into a small courtyard. Good location for visiting the key tourist spots/museums. Will definitely stay there if I return to La Paz.

My wife and I stayed here for several days on two occasions in June. Avelino was an excellent and most helpful host. The property is decorated in exquisite taste, immaculately clean, quiet and features an excellent restaurant as well. The location is convenient to everything. We look forward to returning.

Right in the historic center, fairly spacious room, but no window to the outside, a window onto a corridor, located on the second floor. Minimalist bathroom. Restaurant on the patio, succinct dishes, just ok, same thing for the PTD. Unfriendly staff. Prohibitive prices for laundry... In short, no interest, except the building...

During our first stay we took the suite, very nice room, very spacious, very comfortable, but very noisy... No insulation, you can hear all the noise from the street and it is a very noisy street both day and night. night. After two days spent on Lake Titicaca, we had booked a cheaper room, when we arrived the receptionist did not give us a room and gave us a small room without a window which we refused, he tried to tell us that the hotel was full, then finally, at our insistence, gave us back the room we had had during our first stay. Why not give us this room directly since it was free? When we pointed this out to him he was told that he could not remember all the customers... Conclusion, be wary of the first price rooms, they do not have a window. The breakfast is ok, nothing more.

EXCELLENT, without this word losing its meaning. Well located, close to everything, the building is spectacular and the service is magnificent. We spent 2 days and had another reservation at another hotel, which we canceled to stay there until the end of our stay. We feel very well received and we always arrive at ungodly hours. We used the TRANSFER service (EL ALTO airport-hotel-airport) which was at an unbeatable price and impeccable punctuality. In short, more than a recommendation, it is an obligation to stay in this building declared a World Heritage Site... after all, it is not every day that we can be part of History. (Many thanks to all your staff).
