We stayed at the El Consulado Hotel several times over a period of a couple of weeks. It was our base so to speak whilst we did various visits, treks and tours. We had a very good time thanks to the help and kindness of its owner, Juan Carlos. He really went the extra mile to ensure that our stay was great by providing advice, organising things for us like a 3-day trek, a trip to Tiwanaku, taxis to and from the airport, and looking after our luggage whilst we were away on jungle/pampa tours. The hotel has a lot of character with very high ceilings. The rooms are spacious with large beds and good mattresses. Hot showers too. And heating on demand. The rooms we stayed in were on the ground floor and suffered from some noise pollution. We were disturbed by people coming and going from the hotel and from the activities of a school situated close by. Ear plugs helped a lot. I also wore an eye mask because the curtains were not black out quality.
