Holiday Inn Express & Suites LAKE CHARLES by IHG

We stayed in the handicap room. The shower/bath was a marvel of plumbing complexity but the shower didn't work. There was a lever to direct the water either to the tub or the shower and once up to the shower there was another lever to direct the water to either a wand or the fixed shower head. The first lever, the one for either tub or shower would allow water into the tub but when switched to the shower setting the water flow just stopped. The lever to direct water to either the wand or shower head just rotated without any discernable connection to anything. We reported this to the front desk in hopes that the problem will be addressed.

Front desk was phenomenal & staff was very friendly. The breakfast was really good and the pool was nice. The pool area and front lobby/breakfast area was clean and up to date. The rooms need updating badly/ there was peeling paint in the tub and I did not feel like the surfaces in the room were cleaned. There was mold and years of dust all along the bathroom door. As a former Holiday inn express employee I expected more from the cleanliness of the rooms. I don’t think I would’ve wanted to stay longer than my 2 night stay.

It may be warm but the pool was still close, our A/C was loud, the tub is tiny and had signs of age but the property itself is nice and clean and the staff seem to be hard workers. The breakfast was good and filling, parking was easy and it’s just off MLK.

Staff were friendly and polite, very helpful and everyone seemed happy to be there. The room was awesome and the room had shower chair since it was a tub bathroom. It was spacious and comfortable even with me being in a wheelchair.

The room was somewhat clean. The staff at the desk were as nice as you could ask for, very polite and helpful. There were a few things about the room that could be better and the day before check out we didn't receive any room service. I had to run down towels so we could bath.

We inadvertently booked a stay here instead of the Holiday Inn closer to our venue but we are so glad we stayed at this location. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and even though we had to drive to meet up with our relatives our accommodations were much better.
