Tru by Hilton Lao Cai City Riverside

Comfy rest for our 2 days here. Easy to get from the China-Vietnam borders and to Lao Cai railway station.

It was very nice but I see they changed the price but trip com has still the best deal! The view is nice from the hotel room but only if you check out the rooms before you book!

DO NOT STAY HERE. I felt sick every time I was inside this hotel and relieved when I left. The housekeeping staff use heavy chemicals in completely windowless rooms with no ventilation. I became dizzy, nauseous, couldn't breathe properly, and genuinely feared I might faint or not wake up. The ventilation system doesn't work - I found spray foam blocking air ducts, but honestly everything in this place is malfunctioning anyway. The gaslighting was constant. Staff were cooking their own food in the lobby and the chili fumes made me cough so badly I couldn't catch my breath. When I complained, they flat out lied and said nothing was being cooked. Guests smoke constantly throughout this windowless hotel and management does nothing. Hot water on certain floors lasts maybe 10 minutes. Electrical outlets don't work. Showers leak. The TV is a smart TV but blocked so you can't actually watch anything. The wifi constantly disconnects and is extremely weak when it does work. The construction quality is terrible everywhere you look. Staff and contractors walk around barefoot like it's the jungle. The reception desk is often completely unmanned. Vietnamese and Chinese guests were extremely loud with zero intervention from staff. At breakfast I got undercooked eggs and fruit that was clearly cut with knives used for meat and garlic. The only two honest, professional people there were Oanh and Diep. Everyone else lied to my face about obvious problems happening right in front of us. This place is a health hazard. The Hilton brand should be ashamed.
