Unfortunately, this was really disappointing. So much so that I left after 1 day into my scheduled 8 day stay. Take this as you will, because I'm not someone who complains over the smallest thing, but I also realize we all have our pain points and preferences.
What was disappointing?
1) I had stayed here specifically because I saw that it had a kitchen. But when I arrived they told me that a real kitchen (cooker/stovetop, microwave, plates, glasses, cutlery, etc.) is only available for monthly rentals. That's on their website, sort of, but I booked through Trip.com. How was I supposed to know that? I asked if I could rent some of the stuff for a daily price. The staff asked the owner via chat, who declined all of my suggestions. But as soon as Trip.com got involved they immediately acquiesced. Strike one.
2) Things that were advertised on Trip.com via pictures and amenity listings, like a drinking water bottle/dispenser were not available. I was told I needed to go to the hallway to get water from a common dispenser. Great for cooking! Also, no hangers in the closets. What hotel has no hangers at all? Strike two.
3) As many other reviews have mentioned: the noise. This was the kicker. The AC is loud, yes, but for me that's not a big deal. It's more how it goes on and off and wakes you up each time the AC kicks in. But if you turn it off, you've got the noise from outside. I thought I was getting a quiet apartment amongst the mangroves. But I got an apartment very close to the noisy road and with roosters crowing incessantly, on both sides of the building at all hours of the day. Strike three. I'm out, because I need sleep.
I give it two stars and not one though because the hotel and rooms in general are pretty nice and because the staff tries their best to be nice and polite while they work within the circumstances they have and the orders from above. The location isn't bad either. If you get the right room, you have a better chance of enjoying your stay. So it's up to you if you want to risk it.
