My mum and I were looking for a cheap holiday to Cyprus and we booked the Cactus. Having read the reviews, we were sceptical but we had no reason to be - this was an outstanding stay. The rooms themselves were modern and did the job. Sure it could probably do with a little renovation but as a base, its a comfy bed, a hot and cold shower when needed and cool room at night. Being away from the town centre, its quiet at night. If you book the food package, you will get a meal which consists of delicious greek salad, a generous main and a piece of fruit. If you're expecting a buffet or five star food then this isn't that, what you do get is a home-cooked meal by a chef who takes pride in his work. You don't get a choice for the main dish but it ended up costing us £10 extra a day for breakfast and dinner - honestly I think this is great value plus if you don't like the food then there are plenty of options within the local area. Breakfast had toast, yoghurt, fruit salad, pancake, sausage, eggs - a basic buffet breakfast. To address some of the previous issues raised in comments : - There was no mould in our fridge and when it stopped working, it was replaced instantly - Our shower was fine - a little enthusiastic so had the potential to flood the room but you have to use your own common sense - Re changing beds and towels, they change them every three days - some people had problems with this - think of the environment and think how often you change your own at home - every three days is fine - Cats nearby - yes the whole island is full of cats so not really hotels fault - Distance from main centre - its around a 15 minute walk - flat along the sea front If you are looking for the luxury of a chain hotel and all the amenities it comes with, then this isn't the place for you. To get a taste of what this hotel is like, the maid is also the waitress and the barman is also the handyman - this is a family run place where they'll remember how you like your drinks and genuinely enjoy chatting to you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at the Cactus Hotel. It may have a 2-star rating but the service was 5-star. The location is great - not far from the airport or the pubs, restaurants and beaches. It's in a quiet location set back from the front. Mackenzie beach is a short walk one way and Finikoudes beach is a similar distance the other way. The hotel itself is basic but absolutely spotless. Our room (305) was spacious and comfortable. I loved that it had an insect screen on the sliding doors to the balcony! That made my day when I found out as the mosquitoes love me. The aircon was efficient. We spoke to reception about hiring a fridge and to tell them that our safe wasn't open. We went to the shop around the corner and when we came back our fridge had been set up and our safe was open. The receptionist even followed up with us that everything had been done. The pool area was very clean and safe. The pool itself was lovely and had plenty of beds and umbrellas around it. There were toilets and showers nearby. We didn't have dinner so we can't comment on that but we did have breakfast most mornings and a couple of lunches. There's a good selection on the lunch menu and it was very tasty. The breakfast doesn't get great reviews on here but it was perfectly adequate for what we wanted. The only criticism from our week's stay is that smoking is allowed in the seating area beside the pool, which isn't great when you're eating. All in all, we would definitely stay in this hotel again. The staff couldn't do enough for us (it's worth repeating how clean this place is kept) and even gave us a lovely gift when we left. As long as you remember that it's a 2-star property, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Impeccable stay, the only point is the elevator which is noisy in the evening.

Our group of 30 stayed at the Cactus Hotel while in Cyprus for a football match. Our second visit to the Cactus, we were made very welcome and looked after very well by all the staff. Comfortable rooms with balconies and excellent pool and bar. Hopefully we will return again.

Small, cozy room, convenient location, friendly staff

Esperienza deludente! Zona isolata. La struttura è tenuta male,non pulita bagno stretto e poco attrezzato e la colazione pochissima scelta e soprattutto non buona. Piscina non sicura e anche qui ho molto dubbi sulla pulizia della stessa. Abbiamo avuto un problema in camera ci è stato risolto dandoci un altra stanza peggio della precedente. Zero stelle e tanta delusione!

Sconsigliato!!! Ambiente mal curato, camere sporche e maleodoranti. Colazione deludente e piscina non sicura. Receptionist scorbutiche e non cordiali con i clienti. Non consiglio a nessuno di passare le proprie vacanze in questa struttura.

It is a nice enough hotel for the price. Room, nice balconies, clean enough. However a bit far/a hike from where ypu might want to be, and although close to the sea the nearest neach is not very nice. Neither any nice cafes nor any decent supermarket anywhere inside. No cooffee maker or fridge. Minus for service/amenities, or rather lack thereof. Pool open only until 7-30pm, and no pastries or food at all after breakfast ends at 9h30. Barely any coffee. All sad and stale/tired.

El hotel es barato, por lo que sus servicios no son de lo mejor. Tiene pileta (hay que llevar toalla propia). La atención del personal es buena. Algo bueno es que se puede ir caminando a Mackenzie Beach, está muy cerca del aeropuerto y de la salida a la autopista.

Totally disgusted with this hotel. Sent a message to ask if I can have a credit note or a voucher due to my father-in-law aged 82 being rushed into hospital for emergency operation. It’s been quite stressful but I’ve had no reply at all from this hotel, which means I’ve lost my money I would be very careful of handing over any money to this hotel, as once they’ve got it you’re forgotten about.

Hotel near the airport (taxi 20€). 24 hour front desk. Close to the beach, 7 minutes walk. To the city center 30 minutes on foot or faster by bus for 1.5 euros. The room is clean with basic amenities. As a hotel doya trasita fits well.

Cactus is located 5 min from airport.. Is small hotel but a swimming pool.. The room is good and very clean... If you are looking for a hotel for 1 or two nights very close to airport and near McKenzie area this is good choice.. Also the hotel is very cheap

Reviews were mixed so didn’t know what to expect but received amazing service, staff are so friendly and helpful, going above and beyond. Buffet breakfast and full 3 course meal for dinner, good food. Clean hotel, rooms are modern and cleaned daily by a lovely cleaner. Big pool. Hotel did not disappoint but instead exceeded expectations from past reviews - I would go for yourself and don’t let them put you off!! Stayed in room 115 which had a nice pool view. In a quieter area however very close to beaches and sea, restaurants not far out aswell as some nightlife and airport which is even of walking distance - not noisy from this. Would definitely stay again and recommend the Cactus!

Pour un hôtel de 2 étoiles je trouve que c'est un hôtel correcte. La chambre assez grande pour 2 ou trois personnes et propre. L hôtel se trouve dans un endroit assez calme et à côté de la longue plage de larnaca ou se trouvent beaucoup de restaurants et cafétérias. Le petit déjeuner correcte avec tous les boissons. Il dispose d une piscine que vous pouvez vous baigner et faire du bronzage. Toutes les commodités se trouvent à proximité. Il se trouve à côté de l aéroport. Si vous ne disposez pas trop de bagage une petite valise vs pouvez prendre le bus de l aéroport. Si vs avez de gros bagages, le trajet coûte 20 euro jusqu'à hôtel.
