Grand Times Hotel Laval - Centropolis

Nice hotel. There’s a cologne sort of smell throughout the hotel, including your room, so if you’re sensitive to that, this is not the place for you. Otherwise, nice place in a convenient location in Laval.

Guests couldn't control the room temperature themselves. It took several hours to ask front desk staff for assistance, which was very frustrating. This was especially troublesome when one had a cold, and the fan continuously blew cold air and made a loud noise directly in your face in the room. Additionally, despite the room looking new and modern in the photos, it lacked functionality: the lighting was too dim, there was only one chair in the room, and the bathroom sink was small and shallow, causing water to splatter everywhere when used.

We try to go eat at the restaurant/bar at the hotel & they don't let us in because my son is wearing short pant. They want everyone on vacation to wear Business Casual. We are on vacation. Do you really want to dress up like you are working? Really...that make me pizz.

The design and look of the hotel is great; very cool and modern look all around, but there is MINIMAL lighting. They are understaffed like most places, so there was no warmth or attention. Don't even want to get into what a nightmare it was to check in at 11 PM after a long drive to get there. Got a horrible rash on my face after using a pillow that was kept in the drawer under the bed. Housekeeping came to change the towels, but didn't bother to make the bed, which is the most basic way to ensure clients are happy and willing to come back.

Overall we had a pleasant stay. The room is modern and was clean. My only complaint was that the bed and pillows were not comfortable for me. The complimentary breakfast was basic and some of the items were past expiration date.

Everything was great, but I didn’t like when I checked-in. Receptionist was very rude, didn’t even looked at me, and kept talking with me. As a customer she should respect to the customer, and should give the full attention during the checkin process. Also breakfast was just ok, I think hotel at least provide the scramble eggs. Most of the customers expect scramble eggs with the toast. Thanks

Very nice place & clean. The only issues I would recommend future customers attention is the parking. Once the lot beside the facility is full (20 cars or so) you must pay 17$ for indoor parking. Also, to the staff, please make sure the room temperature is not set at 24 degrees when patreons arrive. The only way to set the AC lower is by contacting front desk. Good luck calling them, you better go down to see them directly! Besides these little flaws, it was sub par. NB: The receptionnist did offer a refreshment on the house though for the AC issue I had. Very well managed.

Very hip high-end business-quality hotel with ultra-modern design. This is the suburbs of Montreal so no easy access to transit - I parked my car in the "free" lot next door, which was nearly full all the time. Area is near outdoor and indoor shopping. Room has fridge and 2nd bed is actually a Murphy bed. Microwave on ground floor only. 2 Water bottles in room cost $3.95 Canadian. Excellent stay with only a few items worth mentioning. 1) Gym quality is below expected for hotel of this type. Equipment is home gym quality. Stationary upright bikes were either broken or not working, and only recumbent bikes worked well. All treadmills turned away from the TV and facing a rather unattractive power plant and gas station. Not many gym towels available and no water provided. No wipes for equipment, only a non-functioning spray bottle and few small towels. 2) Pool area - pool size is awkward and not suitable for serious lap swimming, although it was often full of kids on weekends who seemed to enjoy. Bring non-skid shoes as the wet floor is VERY slippery. No towels in the pool area, must bring one from your room. There is a shower and changing room with toilet. No hot tub. 3) didn't see any in-room booklet with instructions on check-out time or room service. There is a restaurant open late in Centropolis (Jack Astors), but otherwise limited food options after 9pm. -- Overall, very comfortable and convenient stay if traveling by car.
