The location is great but it takes more than that to deserve 4 stars. When entering the lobby, it has a nice contemporary bar (but there is never a bartender to order something from). I was happy when I spotted Ferrari Franciacorta displayed and very much looked forward to enjoying it during our stay l, but it is denied guests for drinking. You cannot order it! The pool bar has very friendly and helpful staff but the area itself clearly needs renovation. And no, forget that Franciacorta there too! If you’re expecting those nice fresh Italian bruschetta, you’ll be disappointed. It’s sliced baguette with dried up tomato sauce for pizzas and gooey cheese with a black olive on top 🙈 Hidden on the left of the lobby is the reception. The receptionists are friendly once you manage to catch their attention and they look up from their computer screens. You’re given a small piece of paper with a code for the room and plastic cards to get towels. Very 3*! That code pad for the room should be demolished! If you finally get into the room, but don’t make it to breakfast, it’s because you can’t get the door knob open to leave the room. Where does one start with hotel itself? With the dodgy, run-down elevators which are mostly occupied by staff; the dirty and in dire need of renovation staircases and broken walls, the bad cases of mildew in 2 out of 4 rooms that we booked for a family reunion? We actually had to change hotels for the first night because the one room was uninhabitable with mildew over the bed and an alternative couldn’t be offered. Another room had to be vacated for a few hours upon check-in for ionization to get rid of the strong smell of smoke; in another room the shower drain was blocked, causing flooding of the bathroom and need to call someone in the middle of the night to unblock it! There’s dust on the bedside tables, mirrors are smudged, glass surfaces have fingerprints of the previous occupants, etc. How is it possible that all these things are missed by house-keeping?! After immediately vacating the mildew room we changed our booking for the next night from a double room for our son (yes, that’s the one with the blocked shower) and junior suite (mildew over the bed) to the large 2-bedroom pool suite to be together on the next day. When we returned the next day after midday, the room wasn’t ready yet - would have been a case of management to coordinate preparing that room first to ensure a speedy occupancy after the disaster of the previous day. Apropos management, if we hadn’t proactively approached them regarding the complaint of our experiences, nothing would’ve been done. A mere apology from the receptionist does not suffice, but after us approaching them and talking to them, they came through. Was this suite really in the same hotel? What a difference! It’s highly recommendable if you close your eyes to everything else. It’s renovated and modern with an amazing view if the Lazise castle walls and lake. Since there is on
