This is a delightful hotel, with lovely helpful staff. It’s not state of the art modern, but clean and comfortable and the river views are beautiful. The choice at breakfast was not great but adequate, and evening meals were not amazing but fine. Potatoes came as fried every night if it wasn’t pasta or rice, but I like fried potatoes so it was fine for me. I was with a group of thirty and the meals came out quite swiftly although the staff level seemed quite low. The barman was great. All in all, a lovely stay in a lovely friendly hotel.

We were staying at the nearby campsite and booked a table for eight on Sunday 20th Aug as a final meal before our son and family flew home the next day. The weather was unusually hot, upper 30's. On arrival there was a notice saying the restaurant was closed due to the extreme heat. Whilst disappointed reading the notice it was quite understandable. We were going to go but the door was opened and we were beckoned inside. They catered for us solely as we had prebooked and had been a few times before. This service was outstanding, food perfect, and we can't recommend this restaurant and staff enough. We will definitely book a few meals there again next year. The food and service is second to none.

Overall a good stay, roof-top pool brilliant as was restaurant balcony though food including breakfast was mediocre and expensive. Surprised to discover hotel bar & restaurant were closed on Monday like all the cafes/restaurants in Le Bugue apart from one place over the bridge called L'Entrot Pot which saved the day! Usual struggle in France to get any vegetarian food as well.

I recently stayed in this hotel whilst on a package tour of the Dordogne. It is beautifully situated, right along the riverside with lovely views from our tiny balcony. It was an ideal base in this small market town for touring the Dordogne. The food was very good, the rooms clean, if a little dated and the staff were very helpful and friendly. overall I enjoyed the 5 nights that we spent there.

We stayed for 5 nights on a Rail Discoveries tour and had a really enjoyable stay. Decor is a bit dated but lovely size room overlooking the beautiful river scenery (beware the midges at night and close the patio windows and use the fan provided). Nice bathroom with walk in shower and everywhere lovely and clean. Nice terrace seating area overlloking the river. Bar staff, reception and dining room staff were all really friendly, pleasent and efficient. Good choice at breakfast and as part of our package 4 nights of dinner with 3 courses and all our party really enjoyed the food. Would definately stay again. (If you have a free day get a town map from the tourist information office and follow the town trail> About 1 hour easy walking and they can provide you with an English traslation).

Room pleasant and clean but needs attention to paintwork. Breakfast adequate. Dinner appalling, cold plates, cold food that should be hot. Little choice and only 1 vegetable (potato) generally fried. The whole place is tired and doesn’t look enticing, scruffy outside paintwork and ****s. Flower pots with ****s and fag ends. Location okay with good view of river, many restaurants closed.

We live in the area, the hotel tends to be closed more than it is open - but this evening we went to the hotel for drinks before dinner, hoping to sit on the balcony. We entered the bar and asked the barman for drinks on the balcony, as we have done on a few occasions in the past. We were told no, that the bar is for hotel guests only. This review is for the owners of the hotel, to let you know your barman is turning away business.

Booked direct with the hotel and chose a double with air-con (rm400) and a twin (rm207) both with views over the square and of the river. Very happy with size of both rooms, but a French summer will need air-conditioning (rm400) as night shutters keep out fresh air (rm207) as well as light. Wonderful rooftop pool and sun terrace with shades, for daytime and until 11pm for long summer evenings. Plentiful free outdoor parking, and indoor (a fee) for cars and free for bikes. Very helpful staff and lots of leaflet advice for things to do. Easy drive to Sarlat or chateau near Vezere River, and can recommend Butterfly Canoes for Dordogne River trip.

Decent hotel, professional staff who are happy communicating in English. We were on a half board (Breakfast and Dinner included) tariff and the food was pleasant and the 4 course dinner included wine and coffee. Breakfasts were simple but adequate. Nice rooms overlooking the river, decent size, clean and comfortable. Hotel location is good and the small town of Le Buge has most vacilities and makes a decent base.
