I don’t really know where to start with how terrible our experience of this hotel has been. We’d booked for June next year for our wedding party (getting married elsewhere - THANK GOD - but over 160 guests staying here for 2 nights). They have been utterly appalling from start to finish. Passed from pillar to post. Lost our booking no less than 3 times. Refused to feed our guests as one party or have guests charge food/drinks to their room - we would’ve had to pay for the whole thing in advance. Staff have been rude, unprofessional, hostile and unhelpful. I am utterly disgusted. I sent an email of complaint a week ago. The email finally went through on my FOURTH attempt of trying all the emails they have available online (2 out of 4 bounced back). Today after no response I rang for the manager’s email address. He finally responded with a pathetic and utterly inadequate reply. No apology. No remorse for losing a booking worth thousands of pounds. Not a care in the world at the amount of stress they’ve caused us. They would’ve totally ruined our wedding weekend I have absolutely no doubt about that, as they have done with another bride recently. Thankfully we’ve found another local hotel who have been utterly brilliant. Avoid avoid avoid.

I was really looking forward to staying here, A grand old style station hotel that no doubt would be a bit faded which is why its only a 3 star hotel . I was wrong! Its a grand old style station hotel. The public rooms are all amazing Victoriana style & elegant. I was pleased that my tall room was comfortable & the facilities were just fine. I was worried that the free parking (with good security) might be full but there were easily enough places Breakfast was good on both days particularly if you like a cooked breakfast Good central location for easy access into & out of town & for the city centre (Media Museum currently closed for a big upgrade). Note that if you are driving you may find that if your sat nav is not up to date you may have a couple of false instructions & I think that an 18 month long set of roadworks is about to start in the centre of the city. Not an obvious large number of nearby restaurant choices but I thoroughly recommend the Bistro Polish Food just a couple of minutes away- not a big menu choice but fresh authentic food prepared well and at a good price

We booked a twin accessible room using IHG points. When we checked in we were told it is not available - its been allocated to someone else. It was a very fraught check in - husband wanted to punch someone & I was on the verge of tears. Why do they think we booked an accessible room - for fun???? I NEED an accessible room because I am disabled. We were also 2.5 hours from home. To give him his due Jay on reception asked us to wait while he checked things out. He offered us a drink from the bar but as hubby thought we might have to drive home he refused. We also had plans with son to go out to eat that evening. Eventually Jay said he had a double accessible room which we gratefully accepted. The window in the room, was in full sun, did not even open a crack which on a day where temps had reached 34 degrees was not ideal. We rang reception and they said they would get us a fan, which then had an electrical fault and only worked if you wiggled the wire - not ideal and pretty dangerous in my opinion. The ‘included breakfast” was a joke as we were told there was nothing hot but a continental breakfast. As a T1 diabetic who counts carbs croissants, muffins, cereal is not ideal so it was just banana for me. As the hotel was full it was also very busy and no tables available - took my banana and bailed out. Car park was close by & a reasonable price. There were a couple of restaurants close by. Aircon in the bar was lovely and the complimentary glass of wine was very good. It was quiet during the night and the accessible bathroom was great. I still can’t believe that they allow you to book an accessible room then give it to other customers.

Recently stay here. And with it being a Britannia my expectations weren’t high. But I’ve got to say what a great experience. James the manager went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one. I went to tell him myself the next day. However when I asked a member of staff where he was she said he was unavailable as he was at their sister hotel which he also runs. What a hero!

Hi on our weekend trip last week room's were reasonably clean with comfy enough beds although the decor and fittings were a bit dated we noted that in the two rooms we had there were no bins for any rubbish and only one uncomfortable chair in each room staff were pleasant and on the hole helpful but the most concerning thing was the rats jumping in and out of the litter bin right outside of reception door in Broad daylight they were also running in and out of the heavy shrubbery round the car park area and the hungry horse next door

We arrived on Saturday 1st of October around 2pm having driven up from Birmingham. We checked in ( having booked a superior room) which apparently entitled us to a free coffee, a bottle of water and a free biscuit during our stay. Upon arrival we asked if we could eat in the restaurant as we were hungry. We were told it was shut, then it was open, then it was shut, nobody seemed to actually know. We wandered in and were seated and told by someone ( who I think must have been their first day) that MAYBE we could eat. It was getting a little ridiculous by now. YES, indeed we could eat. Great. He came back to take our order having not given us a menu. Eventually someone else who seemed a little more clued up gave us scruffy photocopies of about the five dishes we could choose from, when i mentioned the menu I had seen in reception seemed a little more varied he replied in a pleasant but not even vaguely apologetic manner ” oh yes we haven't got a proper chef in so we have a very limited menu”. Hmm, right, so we ordered a pizza and some fries to share with a couple of soft drinks. In fairness we didn't have to wait too long and it was tasty enough and filled a hole. We then negotiated a long queue in reception to get the lift up to our room. EXCEPT WE COULDN'T. Because the door TO the lift would not open with the key card we had. Neither would it open for the receptionist with HER key.. she then got us another which got us through the door to the lift, lift safely deposited us on our floor, we got to our room, only to find our key wouldn't open our door. Our door to our ”superior” room. Great. Except it wasn't because now my other half had to go down back to the reception and explain this, a task not made any easier by what seemed, on first glance, to be half of Spain populating the reception area. Never mind, no matter, so now he has to run up seven flights of stairs to get back to our room because he couldn't get into the lift. Ok, right, so NOW we are into our room, which did not turn out to be in any way superior and exactly what you would expect in any budget hotel and not even as spacious. It had all the basics, just soap and shower gel in dispensers ( not very superior) it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The tv was a night mare to negotiate and one of the lights did not work. No matter, we only changed and slept in the room. All in all the visit was pretty much comedy and, while we didn't pay a fortune for it things that work ( like room keys) and people who knew what was open or shut ( like restaurants and menu details) MAY have been nice. I knew we should have done Premier Inn for less because the Jury's DEFFO in on this, and we found it guilty on several counts. Shame.

Despite a nice welcome and the Leeds city centre location of the Discovery Inn this accommodation was disappointing in almost all aspects of my stay. The Inn does not have a bar or restaurant (serves continental breakfast in the lobby only at extra cost). On the way to the room I noticed the old and stained carpets and tired paintwork, the lift had a disgusting smell during the whole stay. The room I was allocated did not have a view of the outside, it had frosted glass on both windows which did not open beyond a letterbox gap, so you had no idea if it was raining or not for example (the hotel should inform guests of this). The room and bathroom had decorative order issues in this case a massive hole in the wall and many places mildew and stains in the bathroom. The television was so small it was hard to watch though the Wi-FI was very good however do not expect air conditioning or a fan. The room benefited from one hard wooden chair in front of small impractical desk space. The compact corridor-like bathroom was very dated in terms of décor, required a good clean and the noise from the extractor fan was annoying.
