Blossom Hill Inn (Zhimeng)

Had a fantastic stay! The staff (guys and girls) were all super friendly. The owner provided lots of snacks and homemade drinks. The common area courtyard was very cozy and well-kept, and there was even a cat nursing her kittens. In the evening, I enjoyed chatting with strangers in the courtyard – so comfortable and relaxing.

Seeking a hidden gem in the ancient city, I stumbled upon Zhimenghuatang. This hundred-year-old family estate, once a renowned杏林 (traditional Chinese medicine practitioner's family), features blue tiles and wooden eaves, with a courtyard overflowing with blossoms. Sunlight streams down into the central patio, creating a serene escape from the bustling Sifang Street. The housekeeper was incredibly kind and attentive, from guiding us in and serving warm tea to offering thoughtful ginger tea and a welcome fruit platter – every detail exuded warmth. Our room had the comforting scent of ancient wood, clean and comfortable. I fell asleep to the chirping of birds and woke up to a gentle breeze. In the morning, a bowl of authentic Yunnan rice noodles; in the afternoon, tea and pastries in the courtyard; and quiet contemplation in the book bar. It was a perfect way to slow down and truly experience Lijiang. Here, there's no need to rush to crowded spots. Simply relaxing, enjoying the flowers, and soaking up the sun are the best gifts of the journey. This healing courtyard, tucked away in the ancient city, will definitely be my first choice when I visit Lijiang again.

This guesthouse is my absolute favorite in Lijiang, a true hidden gem I almost don't want to share, haha. I first stayed here over ten years ago. Later, when Huazhujian was acquired by HUAZHU Group, I was worried it would lose its warmth and become just another cold, standardized hotel. But I was pleasantly surprised! Everything is still so comfortable and exactly what a guesthouse should be. You can relax, sip tea, chat, and soak up the sun, or listen to the rain when it pours. The young staff are all incredibly enthusiastic, and the manager is so gentle and thoughtful. They even went out of their way to find someone to buy medicine for me in the middle of the night when I wasn't feeling well. The breakfast is simple, nutritious, and delicious. Thank you so much!
