LijiangAncient City Kasion Hotel （ big waterwheel store）

We stayed four nights at the Kasion with our two children and it turned out to be the best decision we made in Lijiang. The location is excellent, right by the big waterwheel at the entrance to the old town, so you can walk out in the morning before the crowds arrive and be back in five minutes when you've had enough. Black Dragon Pool is an easy stroll away too. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and breakfast was genuinely good. But it's the team that made the stay. Ella went out of her way to help us book our Jade Dragon Snow Mountain tickets, which is not a simple thing to do when you don't speak the language, and she sorted it without any fuss. Amy and her team looked after our son when he was unwell, helping with food he could actually eat and checking in on him. That kind of care isn't in anyone's job description, and we noticed. Special thanks to Amy and her team, and to Henry for running a hotel where the staff clearly want to help rather than just being polite about it. We came to Lijiang slightly unsure after a busy few days elsewhere in Yunnan, and left having had a lovely, calm, easy time. A big part of that was this hotel. Thank you all.
