Very friendly reception and staff always willing to help. The property is an old victorian property that has been tastefully decorated and we were delighted to see that the original cornices etc had been preserved. We had a large room with a modern en suite with a large shower and the bedding was very comfortable. With its location very near to Ansfield stadium, the hotel is geared to a football clientele. We had suggested minor tweeks that would suit a more varied custom which were acknowledged. On the downside for us, all the suites were on the upper floors but there was no lift or position for one to be placed. This is impractical for anybody disabled as we both are. We stated that we would have been happy to have stayed there again but this problem would stop us. On arriving home, our view has altered. On inspection of our bank account, we noticed that we had been charged for the agreed cost by Hotel Anfield but, in addition, we had been charged twice more for the same amount (one on arrival the other on departure)by a different company (Happy Days Hospitality), which turns out is also owned by one of the hotels owners. We have been unable to make any contact with the hotel (being attended only by a security guard). Tomorrow we shall be contacting. the bank to discover why they have processed two unauthorised payments and also a second attempt to contact the hotel for an explanation. Needless to say, our experience with this hotel has soured.
