Malacuna Liverpool

Booked for 2 nights, first night was awful. Bed was very uncomfortable, the building makes so much noise, guests were loud and making noise, the fire safety light lit up the whole room like a normal light making it almost impossible to sleep, had NO HOT WATER despite raising the issue with the staff, my room key stopped working after 1 day so had to get it fixed, ramped up the prices for Valentine’s Day but honestly the state of this place is not worth more than about £20 a night. Also I booked a standard room got given an accessible room. There was barely any soap/shampoo/body wash provided and the bathroom window would not close which made using it extremely cold. The room had a strange aroma. The toilet flush barely worked too you had to be very forceful with it. I’d argue it wasn’t as advertised.  It is extremely close to the train station and staff were friendly but considering how much I paid for 2 nights I was extremely disappointed and unsatisfied with my stay.

Room was not clean. Location was okay. Washroom was dirty with no toiletries. Even after asking, they were saying it will be provided by housekeeping even if someone need to use it right now.

I had a very disappointing experience with Malacuna Hotel. Unfortunately, I had to cancel two nights of my stay due to a personal emergency my friend’s step sister sadly passed away, making the trip impossible to continue. Despite cancelling early and explaining the situation, I was still charged €475.88, which felt incredibly unfair given the circumstances. There was a real lack of understanding and flexibility from the hotel, which was very upsetting during an already difficult time. Overall, it was a very poor experience and a real letdown. I would not recommend based on how this situation was handled.

Nice and convenient, very close to the city centre. Would recommend if coming to liverpool for a few nights away.

Pros...very good location and comfortable rooms...Cons...the charging outlets didn't work, I mentioned it twice and they never fixed it.

It's centrally located. The beds are comfortable, and the sheets are clean. However, the bathrooms could be cleaned more carefully. The rooms are newly renovated, so there are some shortcomings. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Great hostel, it’s clean and the rooms are well kept. The beds are amazingly comfortable with a small shelf to keep your phone and watch to charge while you sleep. The vibe is great and it’s very vintage style. Location is amazing. Easy to all public transport, so many shops to eat or get groceries from. Bars and pubs are at your fingertips. The only downside to this hostel is its in room bathroom. Unfortunately this hostel fails majorly on this. I was in an 8 bed dorm, and there was 1 toilet and 2 showers. (Luckily there was only 3 people in my room for my 2 nights) so we could manage. BUT the showers are absolutely awful it has no independent tap for hot or cold water, it has a push button for water and the push button only lasts 3 seconds (SO GUESS WHAT YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE BUTTON IN CONSTANTLY TO SHOWER) so you have one hand to shower with if you want constant water on you, BUT guess what…. The shower hot water is non existent the hot water is hot like a swimming pool on a hot summers day or luke warm at the best. So if you think you going to have a good shower after a long day of exploring or you get filthy from a night out, surprise you going to have the most awful shower. So you gotta pick awful shower for a comfy bed and clean room or stay somewhere else. If I visit Liverpool again I’d skip this hostel only for the fact that I like a nice hot shower at the end of the day to unwind with before going to bed.

Has potential. Undergoing renovations. Decent for the price. Good pizza, often on sale.

Room was smaller than expected as it looked bigger online however this wasn’t an issue as we only needed a bed and bathroom for the night. The bathroom was very clean and spacious. There was no iron in the room but a laundry room was directed to us downstairs in the basement which was helpful. The only disadvantage I faced during my stay was disturbance from other occupants of my floor coming back after a night out. I could hear laughing, talking and doors slamming. If you’re a light sleeper then I would not recommend! Despite that, the service and customer service was fab and I couldn’t not fault it. Thank you for having us!
