We stayed at Mrs Blodget's for 2 nights whilst visiting our son who is studying at university in Liverpool. I'd already read in reviews about the confusing check-in so I had emailed ahead for clarification, the response from the Epic team was that the check-in location was central to all of their apartments.... ???... that was it, no address was given or location of the check-in building. I then called the office and was told that the easiest way was to go to the Merchant pub on the street behind the apartment and it was next to that.... except... the Merchant pub doesn't have a sign on it saying it's the Merchant! After some roaming around we found it and checked in. This is a recurring problem for people and it needs addressing, perhaps include a map or better directions on booking. Whilst we were at the apartment another family turned up who had also been unable to find the check-in building. After a quick check-in we were given keys for room 105, a lovely space with a large L shaped sofa, however the heating thermostat wasn't working and it was a freezing night, so we had to call the office again. Someone quickly came over with keys to room 205. The decor in the apartment is lovely and is exactly as in the photos, however this room didn't have the lovely L shaped sofa as in the first room. I feel like Mrs. Blodget's could actually be spot on with a few inexpensive tweaks. For instance, there is a small hallway as you enter, an ideal place to leave your big bulky winter coats, but there's no hooks in there. The bed was nice and comfortable with decent bedding and towels but the street noise was really bad even on a Monday and Tuesday night. The windows didn't seem to fully close so the noise was a definite issue for me. There is plenty of storage in the bedroom but as I often find in hotels/apartments there were no socket close enough to the mirror to dry your hair. In fact I couldn't find sockets in the bedroom at all. The dining table had a wobbly top so cutting food on it meant everyone's drinks were spilling. The kitchen had only the absolute essentials, no salt and pepper, no tea towel and not even oven gloves! The extractor fan wasn't working in the bathroom. There were 2 small bottles of shampoo left, but no shower gel or hand soap, and no bath mat. Again some extra hooks in there for drying towels would have been useful. The location of the apartment is great, central to all the bars, restaurants and shopping. Plenty of parking is close by. Unfortunately the bar in Mrs. Blodget's wasn't open on the Monday or Tuesday. So overall a bit of a mixed review, we got a good deal through Secret Escapes, however all these small ******* might have irked me more had I paid full price for the stay. I probably wouldn't stay again purely because of the traffic noise rather than because of the other issues.
