All the reviews are from the previous time the Hall was open, they are not current and not relevant. We stayed three nights in April 24 and this is a current and true account. You would struggle to find a more beautiful location and the furnishings in our suite were expensive, however we move on. We were the only guests. On arrival we were met by the young Lady who I assume is the manager, very pleasant and has been front of house for a month, she had no knowledge whatsoever of the area which was disappointing. Her attire for what strives to be a very upmarket B&B is not what one would expect. When we arrived the first thing we heard were barking dogs, when greeted the first question was 'do you like dogs as we have two German shepherds' we do but not barking ones that are roaming loose, not a great start, Reading previous reviews it would appear that breakfast was wonderful, that is not the case now, Orange juice is not fresh, there is no meat whatsoever on the menu except Chicken sausages, no bacon, no ham, nothing, the owner is of a faith that does not eat pork so all guests musts follow suit! The fact that there are beef sausages, game sausages and venison sausages is overlooked, there are no kippers, smoked mackerel etc. So in essence the menu is very limited, we opted for the poached eggs and they arrived hard, all very disappointing. It's not surprising there are so many negative breakfast comments, additionally they do not start serving until 8.30 and although we were the only guests it took nearly an hour to get two poached eggs each ! our suite was beautifully furnished, however all pillows were soft, no choice, the duvet one could have used to scale Everest, again no choice, heating controls were totally unfathomable, the fire is simple a big black hole, even some artificial flowers would have brightened up the dark space. Finally when arriving back from a meal out you will need to avail yourself of a torch to locate the keyhole, even though this was pointed out and we left the hall light on when we went out on the 2nd night one of the staff saw fit to turn it off so the scrabble to get in when we arrived home repeated itself. It really should be the most magical place to stay but sadly it is not what the owners envisaged the place to be, inexperienced staff, lack of attention to detail and a very sad breakfast menu will not have guests returning, Could be so much better.

I loved Borthnwog Hall. It was so peaceful and the view of the estuary and hills from the balcony was enchanting. The hall is well maintained, the room was very clean and the aquarium was beautiful. Thank you to Marilyn, Lana and all of the team for making this a wonderful stay. I enjoyed pizza and prosecco at Mawddach Pizza which was a 4 minute drive away. Barmouth beach was a 10 minute drive. I would definitely return.

We have just had a 3 night stay at Borthwnog Hall. Its a beautiful B & B situated a few miles from Barmouth. The whole place just feels tranquil and surrounded by the estuary and rolling hills. We had the 'B' room which is a sea view (Estuary), the decor is lovely and the King size bed is incredibly comfy. Its the best night sleep we've had for a while. The staff are superb, friendly and very attentive. Attention to detail is first class and the the breakfast, well it gets an A++ from us. We will be going back again, its a little gem.

We had a 2 night stay which was so lovely I wanted to stay for a third! Beautiful and peaceful location. Well appointed rooms and a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Had a beautiful balcony room overlooking the estuary. Would recommend and look forward to another visit in the future.

We had a fabulous time at Borthnwog. It’s a beautiful property in an amazing location. It has the air of a grand family home and that makes it feel really homely and a little quirky. The views from the front facing rooms are breathtaking and the staff were friendly and unobtrusive. It’s a unique mix of traditional country house with furniture and fixtures that look to be from north/east Africa mixed in. The marine aquarium in the breakfast room is as impressive as it is surprising and it’s nice to see a place that has some personality - you can have too much farrow and ball / country life in a place, but Borthnwog isn’t like that and it’s all the better for it. Breakfast was plentiful and lovely. The fresh milk, water and treats in the room fridge every day were a nice touch too. We walked around the gardens and spotted the memorial olive tree and old boathouse. It speaks of owners past and present and only adds to its charm. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth every penny if you want to get away from it all and feel looked after but not feel fawned over.

The existing reviews give an accurate impression of Borthwnog Hall, so there's no need for me to repeat their praise. Quite simply, if you want to stay close to Dolgellau, it's very hard to imagine there to be anywhere better. We stayed in the most expensive room, which was possibly the best one we have ever stayed in - large, well-equipped, and with fantastic views.

When we booked this hotel we was looking for something quiet and just out the way of everything. I cant write a review that would truly explain the beauty of this hotel and its gorgeous scenery. You would have to go and find out yourself. We stayed in the king room which was beautiful and with doors leading out onto balcony. The bed was super comfortable with plenty of room and orthopedic pillow as an option. Its a hidden gem and we absolutely loved our stay . Barmouth about a 10 minute drive away which has a lovely beach and views .

I can’t rate this idyllic place highly enough, the most beautiful location with stunning views of the Mawddach estuary, you can see from penmaenpool toll bridge and the George pub all the way down to Barmouth bridge. Watching activity in the fields, the wild birds, and water birds was a bonus. The modest gardens and surrounding grounds are immaculately kept and very pretty. The house is sprinkled with some lovely quirky furnishings and art pieces but the huge aquarium is magnificent. The hospitality was wonderful, the rooms are spotlessly clean, the attention to luxury details spoilt us. Comfy beds and bedding, and really tasty breakfast . Value for money, my advice would be try and get the rooms with a balcony on the front- you won’t want to go to bed and miss the view . Thanks to Nicola, Kasia and all the team that make this place so beautiful.
