The Chainbridge Hotel

Situated in a beautiful position, with the canal (and associated walks) and aqueduct close-by, the hotel has much to offer. Staff are friendly, food is good and the view over the river across to the seasonal steam railway makes it worth a visit. The old (refurbished) chain bridge adds to the charm

I have wanted to stay here for a while. There was a good offer on booking. Com so thought why not go to celebrate my birthday. We chose a balcony room so we could enjoy the views of the river. The weather brightened up, and the views were lovely. Staff are friendly and helpful, and there are nice walks nearby, including the Horseshoe Falls(weir) The evening meal was very nice and wasn't overpriced. Breakfast was included in our offer. The room wasn't the biggest but very comfortable with everything you need. We would definitely consider staying again, especially if there was another offer on.

This is an appalling, tired hotel, in much need of refurbishment in the dining room. Some of the staff were unfriendly especially on reception when we arrived. It all felt as though it was too much of a bother. Having said this a couple of the younger waitresses were extremely helpful and welcoming. The food was second rate and obviously frozen - very over priced. Our bedroom was pleasant enough albeit very small. It's only redeeming quality is it's location. I would not recommend it.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Our room had a large veranda overlooking the River Dee providing excellent views in both directions. Breakfast was poor and the room facilities weren’t great, hence the 4* rating. The staff were really good!

We have just returned home from this wonderful hotel, already looking forward to a return visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were immaculately kept and the location is stunning. We had a room with a balcony and managed to spend plenty of time, even in April, sitting on the balcony watching the river Dee race by. The appearance of a steam train at the station opposite was a highlight! The walk along the canal towpath to Llangollen was lovely too. It's a family hotel with character so is very different to the bland corporate chain hotels and that was a very welcome feature.

One of the dirtiest rooms we have stayed in. We booked twin and double room and were given family room a twin. Family room was horrendous. Dirty tables, broken drawer handles, dirty curtains, dirty bathroom floor, wallpaper coming off the walls..service was self serve as we had to find everything oit ourselves. We spent a such time away from the place as we could. Would definitely not recommend room 20.

Me and my husband stayed at the ChainBridge hotel for one night as part of our stay in Wales. Having never been to Wales before, the hotel is beautiful in an idyllic location. The hotel is located next to the river Dee, and is a 5 minute walk to the Horseshoe Falls. We stayed in one of the junior suite rooms that overlooked the river with a balcony. The room was very spacious, with great facilities, including tea and coffee with biscuits. We were very pleased to see that there were decaffeinated coffee included in the choices, due to my husband only being able to drink caffeine free drinks; as we have stayed in hotels before where this wasn't provided. The room was clean and tidy, and the bathroom had a lovely towel radiator, which was lovely to have nice dry warm towels to use. We were booked in the restaurant for our evening meal, and the choices on the menu were very good. I chose the sausages and mashed potatoes in a giant Yorkshire pudding with peas and gravy. The food arrived very hot and the portion size was large. I really enjoyed the food. In the morning we both enjoyed a full English breakfast, which was served with a selection of toast, orange juice and tea or coffee to your choice. The food was all hot and very tasty. Anyone looking for a hotel in a beautiful setting in North Wales, we would highly recommend this hotel. All the staff were very welcoming, including the cleaning staff, bar and waitering staff and the reception. We will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

The chainbridge Hotel is in a beautiful location. From start to finish the staff were attentive. We got to the hotel around 1.30 had our lunch which was nice, and checked into our room. The room was lovely, we booked a double river view with a balcony. The view is something else. The hotel is on the canal 5 minutes from the Horseshoe falls which is to the left of the hotel. You can also walk along the canal into the town, the walk is stunning. There is lots to do in llangollan. Breakfast was nice too. We will definitely staying here again.

Weekend stay because we were attending a wedding locally. very nice location and friendly staff. On the second night new ate at the hotel in the evening and the meal was pretty good. We arrived back fairly late on night, the area is not lit and frankly hazardous. The route to late entry need to be lit. Breakfast is focussed on full English no real options along the lines of fruit etc. The room was okay, clean and comfortable. In fact wifi was much better than the hotel themselves warned. Staff were generally helpful.
