I have been coming to this hotel for 12 years and I love how I always get the same room I love the restaurant and the pools and find everything amazing

Breathtaking property with professionell staff that were always very attentive. DAVIDE from Concierge Was extremly helpful at all times! His recomemdations in the City was really great. We took the e-bikes to the City and back. The beach Bar was out of this World. Breakfast spread was very good.

I have never been more conflicted about a resort. On the one hand, Castello del Sole is beautiful property with staff members who go out of their way to try to make sure you have the best possible stay. The food was also excellent. Unfortunately, there were three issues during our stay that we couldn’t ignore: 1. We found the rooms uncomfortable. The queen bed in our junior suite were two hard singles pushed together. I realize this is often European style accommodation but I haven’t seen it in a hotel of this supposed caliber. The air conditioning was also antiquated and barely seemed to function. We did not sleep well here or feel relaxed. 2. There was a fraudulent bar charge to our room. Mistaken charges are common and are typically no big deal. This bill had our last name and room number on it in someone else’s handwriting. We never went to the bar even once and fortunately the staff quickly removed the charge but it made us concerned that this might be someone on the staff. 3. This is the toughest thing to write but if you are brown (or any other minority), you might think twice about coming here. We were the only minorities at the resort and felt a bit like we were cultural oddities that got stares from the other guests. And before anyone chimes in, we stay at the nicest resorts in the world, dress the part, and know how to behave in such settings. It especially made my kids feel deeply uncomfortable and again, they have traveled all over the world. Know what you are getting into here before you book.

The Hotel is, without a doubt, one of the finest hotels we've had the pleasure of staying in. Everything here exudes quiet luxury – not the flashy kind, but the kind that whispers “old money” and glides rather than walks. The service is immaculate. Never fussy, always flawlessly timed, the staff knows when to appear and assist and, more importantly, when not to. The rooms? Spotless, polished, and so well maintained they could pass for brand new. The food is delicious. There's a sense of space and privacy throughout – you can truly relax here, and that’s becoming harder to find these days. If we had to point out one, it would be this: with great luxury comes a certain kind of guest. This is the sort of place where fellow guests don’t so much greet you as assess you. A raised brow here, a barely perceptible glance there – one feels not unwelcome, but rather under review. Still, it’s all part of the charm. If you’ve ever wanted to star in your own episode of “The Tastefully Dressed Stranger Who May or May Not Belong Here,” this is your stage. In short: Castello del Sole is exceptional. A haven of taste, peace, and unspoken expectations.

This hotel, with its expansive grounds, is truly unique. It is well-run, boasting an excellent kitchen, including a delicious Friday night seafood buffet offering a wide variety of fish. The well-furnished bar, deck chairs, and friendly, creative service on the lake shore enhance the charm of this fairy-tale setting.

A charming and extraordinary Hotel and Setting. Most competent and friendly staff. Outstanding cuisine including Breakfast Buffet. The Seafood Buffet on Fridays a special treat and alone worth a visit. The vineyards and their own production and tasting a great experience. Most of all the staff - from Management to Service level friendly and prepared to address you by your name

A nice contemporary building of an agradable architecture, surrounded by 100 Ha of land and lawn on the shores of Lake Maggiore. The setting is impressive. The quality of the buildings typical Swiss. We had a suite in the wellness pavilion 100m2 with a huge terrace facing the park. Everything oversized, bathroom, closet, etc extremely comfortable and large. Very comfortable beds with linen bed sheets. Very nice sand beach and enormous pool and Spa. The 2 restaurants plus the lunch garden buffet spot are great. Very good food and service. Staff perfectly trained and kind. Shuttle service to Ascona town allows easy visiting. A remarkable hotel, very Swiss and a heaven of peace.

As much as I would like to rate this hotel with a 5 there are some important factors that don’t make this hotel a luxury one. First, the good stuff: - Food is OUTSTANDING. Literally every dish we had was fabulous with consistency through out all our stay. Room service was impeccable, always on time and professional. - It is a kids paradise and since we have one, it was the right choice for us. The Kids club and the workers there are great, as well as all the food choices and activities. - Service in general was fantastic. -The spa professionals were great, and both treatments we had were wonderful. The bad: - The hotel is a mix of real old buildings (the original castello), not so old and ugly attached buildings (probably built in the 70’s or 80’s) and some newer buildings with updated rooms. We had a room at the not so old but ugly attached building and as much as the furniture is fairly new and they have done some updates, the bathroom and bathtub are tiny and is definitely not luxurious. That being said, it is O.K, but just O.K - The so called 'beach’ is in fact a not very nice way to enter the lake, full of ducks, seaweed and nature, so for us it was just not usable. If you are very into nature I guess you could manage. But you can definitely not call this a beach resort. - The shuttle that takes you back and to Ascona is never on time. And with never on time I mean never. We took it 3 times and we always had to call asking if someone was going to come to pick us up or not. -If you are not a family but a young/middle age couple, this place is not for you. A part from the families with children you will only find senior couples that seem to be loyal returning guests. -Once again the spa facilities didn’t feel like if you were in a luxury hotel. They were just O.K You might think there were more bads than goods, but for us, service and food are always the most important when booking a good hotel, and for that, I need to rate them with a 4.
