Excellent value. Super helpful and gracious staff. Big shout-out to Masood, the night manager, who went out of his way to help us find a ride when we woke up to a bad downpour on the day some of us had to go home and couldn't walk to St Pancras international. Yes, it is within walking distance, and so are most of the sights and places of interest/transport hubs.
Response from Property: Hi Noelle, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a great review. We're always happy to help and look forward to having you stay with us again. Warm regards, Comfort - YHA London Central

Very clean and fresh. It was above my expectation. Nice friendly staff members. The continental breakfast could be more inviting, very basic.

Overall was a great stay, washing machine wasn’t working during my stay, at no fault of anyone on staff, and the bathroom outside my room wasn’t the most clean. Staff was friendly and helpful

We haven’t stayed in a YH in a city before and were a little wary. Our Airbnb cancelled at the last minute and as it was a BST festival weekend and Pride weekend we couldn’t find anything for under £1000 for two nights. Until I thought, why not, let’s try a YH. I’m so pleased we did. Other visitors varied in ages, abilities, ethnicity but all were friendly. The staff we so helpful and friendly. I had called in advance of booking as we have 3 children (family of 5) and wanted to be sure our youngest could bring a roll mat and sleeping bag as other YHAs permit. The reception confirmed it was fine - woohoo! We had an en-suite family room for 4 on the 5th floor and it was squeaky clean. The lift was out of order so it was a little knackering going up and down 5 flights but manageable for us. We stored our bags in the lockable basement room on the first and last day which was a bonus. We hired towels for £2 which lightened our luggage. The breakfast was fine, a bit of carb overload but that worked for us. There is soya milk if you ask and the flora spread is vegan. Could have done with oat milk or a dairy free milk which can be used in tea or coffee without it curdling but to be fair we didn’t ask and just opted for black coffee. We’d definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting London. Very close to a Sainsbury’s local (under 5 mins) and 8 mins from Great Portland St Tube. 25 mins walk from Kings Cross.

YHA is clean, safe and convenient but this one - not sure if it is policy now - does not have lockers. No lockers in the dorm, except for one the size of a mobile phone. No external lockers. If you have a laptop you are advised to leave it at reception. Not sure about cameras or other valuable gear. Whilst most people you share a room with at YHA are very respectful, you simply never know about potential theft so not having decent sized locker is ridiculous, annoying, inconvenient and unsafe.
Response from Property: Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We're happy that you found our facility very clean and had a comfortable stay here. Regarding the lockers, they were removed during covid-time and we hope to have them back in the future. In the meantime guests can have leave their laptops and cameras at reception. Kind regards,
Keiko

I booked it because my flight home was leaving at midnight and I wanted a place to stay until then. As it is a hostel, I wasn't expecting the facilities, but my expectations were overturned, but in a good way. Cleanliness! Bright! Everything is NEW! And, very quiet (as long as the time I stayed there). I had stayed in another hotel for five days that was almost twice the price, and I wished I had stayed here in the first place. Excellent place.

I stayed here for 7 nights and the only thing going for it was the location and staff. The hostel is very close to everything you might need (grocery stores, cafés, ect) and all the tourists attractions. The staff were very friendly and fixed anything that could be fixed very quickly. The actual hostel is undergoing extensive renovations and the front is covered in scaffolding and various places inside the hostel are affected by the building work. Such as lower floor hallway bathrooms and laundry. The kitchen when I used it was quite dirty but everything worked and there were cleaning supplies so I just cleaned an area to used. The seating in the kitchen was old and worn but useable. The laundry cost 5 pounds to use (wash, dry and soap) the machines are very small and the dryer takes about 3h to dry one load. When I was here the laundry was also used as the luggage room so you had to battle around other peoples luggage. To used the laundry you have to pay at the counter and they give you a special key to use. The room I was staying in (002) is the primary reason for the poor review. It is an 8 person dorm something I did not know before arriving, however this seems like a booking platform issue across the YHA website. I personally can’t cope well with more than a 6 person dorm so found the room very uncomfortable to be in, especially when your roommates are nowhere close in age ( 50 +) a lot of the time. There are no lockers for your bags and very little space to store your belongings in the room 6 selves in total for the whole room. The room has an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet. The bathroom is very poorly designed as there is no self or bench to place anything ( clothes, toiletries) on in there and no were to sit down to get dressed, not even a lid on the toilet. The shower sprayed water everywhere and required scraping in to the drain when finished. You could only have a very short shower or the water would flow in the actual dorm room. It was an accessible room so completely understand some of the features however was left questioning how someone with high physical needs would be able to use the shower since scraping the water afterwards would be very hard. The room is also very hot! A small fan was provided that helped a little bit but an air conditioner is really needed especially as summers are getting hotter. It is quite dangerous to have the rooms be so hot as people were falling ill due to it. The room also faced the building work so allowed for only a very little gap when the window was open. Most nights I fell asleep to the smell of cigarettes coming in from the street and very noisy pub goers or traffic. One of which was very easily fixed by ear plugs. The hostel offers breakfast in there café however I never partook in it as there are plenty of other places to go very close by.
Response from Property: Hi Zanthia, Thank you for your review, we are pleased you were pleased about our location. We are sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us.We apologies for the inconvenience this had caused you such as construction, self catering kitchen , room temperature and the bathroom. Family of three - Had two rooms (#209 - sleeps 4) and #102 (sleeps 6) spread over two weeks. Both tight, but comfy. Both had private ensuite bathrooms. A little warm, but strong fans provided. Great value for money. Breakfasts (6 pounds) a little dull, but enough to get the kids going. Take advantage of the nearby Sainsbury's and do your own food in the well-stocked kitchen in the basement. Laundry machines were not in service while we were there which was VERY disappointing. Must pay to use towels if you don't have your own. (2 pounds per stay per towel ). Staff quite helpful. Quiet and suberb location.

Returned from 3 nights at the London Central YHA – 2 adults and 3 children in a 6 bed private and surprisingly spacious room. We had a great stay and would definitely return. We opted for en-suite toilet and shower (which was hot and powerful). Facilities throughout were very clean. We didn’t need a lot of help from staff whilst we were there but when we did they were friendly and helpful. When I emailed a couple of times before we arrived they were very quick at responding. There is a communal area to sit, play games and eat as well as a kitchen & dining area. We had the continental buffet breakfast one day which was good value. Our only issues were that the room was stuffy and warm with no air con. A large fan was provided however if you are coming in summer just bring light pjs. We didn’t use our duvets and just slept with the duvet cover as a sheet. I imagine it’s very toasty in winter! Bunk beds are very sturdy and comfy. We got a message before arriving saying the lift would be out of order, but it was only on our first day that it didn’t work from the ground floor to basement. Otherwise it was fine. Great location – you can easily access either Great Portland St tube or Oxford Circus – whichever is more convenient. It’s on a quiet street so no noisy traffic. Very family friendly and lots of different nationalities. Highly recommend stopping here for another budget friendly family trip.
