Quality Inn Lone Pine Near Mount Whitney

Comfortable and good location. Friendly staff and a free breakfast in the morning. Views of the maountains everywhere.

With the price of gas I thought I’d save some money and stay at the Quality Inn. The room was updated but that didn’t include the mattress as it was extremely uncomfortable. The key cards were super gitchy- frustrating when it’s been a long day and you just want to get into your room. Thermostat was preset and couldn’t be adjusted to what was comfortable for me. Water was turned off at noon on a Sunday (in the middle of my shower) for a filter issue- waited 20 minutes to rinse shampoo and soap. Pool wasn’t open for the season yet so it was covered in a tarp that was full of nasty greenish-black water and trash. Breakfast options were decent but had to warm them up in microwave by the time I got back to my room.

My boys and I have used this hotel several times over the years, the most recent visit being in January 2026. The rooms are clean and well maintained for an older hotel and I appreciate that it's about a mile or so south of Lone Pine so it's very quiet in the evenings. The staff is always friendly and professional. Their breakfast, while limited in options, is more than adequate. Table seating is very limited so use the coffee tray in your room, go get your plates, and then eat in your room. It's easier. The hotel was going through a remodel as of January 2026 and I look forward to seeing the renovation when we return in June, 2026. There was an issue on the second day of our stay that required us to move out for our last night (and up the street to another hotel) but the management was awesome and made things right by us. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying in the Lone Pine area.

Unbeknownst to us, our room was directly adjacent to minors. In fact the entire floor was reserved for a high-school group, except our two rooms. We received no buffer and no notification about this. Of course, there were noise issues. Sadly no one trained the night shift and when asked about contacting the chaperones, the response was "that is not how it works" and instead the would only "solution" was for them to call the offending high-school students. What a joke! For my lack of sleep, I received a $15 credit.

Very nice, newer hotel in a beautiful location away from town.

A nice hotel located about two miles south of Lone Pine (right off highway 395). Spacious and comfortable room; free parking; breakfast was included (eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, waffles, coffee, juice). Driving to the entrance of Death Valley National Park takes around 45 mins.
