I appreciate that these are first-world problems, but they may inform future travelers.
We arrived a little after 4pm and were surprised that there were no bell hops or even people to welcome us. The spaces directly in front of the hotel are red zones. In order to park long enough to check in, we had to circle around and find a 15-minute space, then fetch a luggage cart and manage our way in. It took an hour and ten minutes before our room was ready. We had plans and time was getting very tight. For the inconvenience, they upgraded us to a suite, which was very nice, but when we got to the suite, with no help from a bell person, housekeeping was still there.
We were not told about an option for a buffet breakfast, so the first morning we had a very mediocre and expensive breakfast in the main dining area. After peaking in and seeing a buffet area, the second morning we asked, and the answer wasn’t clear, so we just went in. Much better breakfast, but I can’t tell how much it cost by reviewing the bill.
Self-parking in an attached structure is $47 per night and there are absolutely no other options. The price of our room was incredibly jacked up due to the World Cup, so a room that would have cost about $250/night on *******, cost $800. By the time you add all of the fees and taxes, it came up to $900+. Gosh, we should have known when we got married 50 years ago that the World Cup would be in town this weekend.
