Yuanshanju Hongyao Renjia Hotel

I don’t enjoy writing bad reviews but this was not a good experience. It was an overpriced hotel run by dishonest people who try to scam foreigners. We paid 275 RMB for the room which, in my opinion, was not justified by the level of comfort or service. The amenities were average. There was no soap or shampoo in the bathroom. The water in the shower was barely warm enough. Yes, there is a view and big windows but they were dirty. That would have been fine if they didn’t charge us a ridiculous price for dinner. As we travelled off season, there was no restaurant open in the village. The host offered to cook dinner. They showed us the menu but didn’t have anything we asked for on the menu. Eventually we asked for simple stir-fried pork with vegetables. After dinner when we asked to pay they announced the price: 100 RMB! After I complained they reduced the price to 80 RMB which was still ridiculous for 2 bowls of rice and 1 small portion of stir-fried pork which wasn’t even particularly tasty. I never paid this kind of price during my 4-week trip in China! It was a disappointing and unpleasant experience altogether.
