Awen was a fantastic host. He helped me arrange my whole trip around the 土楼 and treated me like family. Speaking of family - his mother’s cooking was delicious. Highly recommend this family run business.

Spending a night at Changdi Inn, nestled in the heart of the historic Hongkeng Tulou Cluster, was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of my Xiamen trip. The inn is located within a centuries old Hakka earthen building, and the moment you step inside, you will be instantly transported back in time. The stay offers an immersive look into traditional Hakka culture and architecture, surrounded by thick earthen walls, wooden beams, and antique details that speak volumes of the past. What mak it extra special was meeting the friendly innkeeper, a 6th generation descendant of the family that built and preserved this Tulou. He shared stories and local insights making the whole experience even more meaningful. The room was simple yet clean and comfortable, blending rustic charm with basic modern comforts. I got to enjoy authentic Hakka meals, lovingly prepared and bursting with homestyle flavor, perfect after a day of exploring. Waking up in the peaceful village setting, watching the locals go about their daily lives, and hearing the birds chirping outside, it's a rare, soulful escape from the city.

I would highly recommend Changdi Inn, housed in a family owned tulou in a peaceful spot by the river in the village. a very unique experience! Our host Steven spoke great English and was the most friendly and helpful host. Our dinner was prepared by the mother and we could enjoy that and breakfast in the tulou courtyard. Very special !

Stayed here with my husband, and mum and dad - it was the highlight of our trip. A really beautiful building, amazing location for wandering around the village. Stephen and his family were wonderful hosts. The food was phenomenal.

My parents and I stayed and dined at Fuyu Lou, which is considered the grandest Tulou in the Tulou Prince Scenic Area. Our host, Ah Wen, was incredibly warm and attentive; he even picked us up and dropped us off at the village entrance, and treated us to a delightful tea tasting. The dishes prepared by the auntie were incredibly delicious, allowing us to truly savor authentic Tulou cuisine. The courtyard had a wonderful ambiance, becoming particularly stunning in the evenings when the lanterns illuminated. Our room was also very clean, and the high-quality toiletries provided were a nice touch. When my parents felt a bit chilly at night, the auntie, despite already having gone to bed, thoughtfully brought them extra blankets – we were truly grateful for her kindness! Having explored various other Tulou structures throughout the Tulou Prince Scenic Area, we unanimously agreed that Fuyu Lou stands out as exceptional in every aspect – its rich history, beautiful environment, and the wonderful host. We truly made the perfect choice! Our stay and dining experience at Fuyu Lou was undoubtedly the biggest highlight of our entire Fujian trip!

What an absolutely unforgettable trip! The centuries-old house itself is brimming with history and charm. The host family was incredibly warm and welcoming; their children even played happily with ours. The meals were delicious too. Whenever we fancied a cup of tea, the host couple, or even the patriarch himself, would personally brew it and share delightful conversation. They also proactively shared helpful tips and suggested itineraries for exploring the area. For anyone seeking a culturally and historically rich experience, staying here is absolutely the right choice. If I ever get the chance again, I'll definitely go back, not for anything else, but just to visit Ah Wen (the host) once more.

The ambiance is incredibly chic and thoughtfully designed; it was truly a feast for the eyes. I had a very quiet and peaceful night's sleep. And the owner's free-range chicken soup was incredibly delicious!

I booked two rooms. The owner was very welcoming. However, the rooms themselves were quite average, and the attention to detail felt a bit unpolished. Personally, I didn't feel it offered good value for money.

The room was clean and tidy, with an en-suite bathroom, and staying directly in a Tulou (Hakka Earthen Building) made it convenient for watching the light show at night. However, since the air conditioning unit was retrofitted into an old building, the outdoor unit made a loud humming noise all night, to the point where I couldn't even hear my alarm in the morning. But without the AC, it was simply too cold. The bathroom was also quite narrow, making it a bit inconvenient for washing up. Still, for an old house like this, having a private bathroom is a rare find. The owner, a sixth-generation proprietor, enthusiastically shared the Tulou's history and origins with guests. The small courtyard was beautifully decorated, creating a wonderful ambiance, and the owner's mother's cooking was delicious. However, due to the chilly weather, the food got cold very quickly, and unfortunately, it was too cold to sit and enjoy tea in the courtyard. These were minor regrets. I'd recommend staying here when the weather is warmer for a better experience. Those accustomed to conventional hotels might find a Tulou stay less comfortable during colder temperatures.

Ah Wen and his wife and family made me feel very welcome in his tulou. He recommended a tour guide who took me to visit the important tulous, which is necessary because they are far apart. Food wise it was delicious and Ah Wen (or Stephen) tailored a one person set for me consisting of a variety of Hakka dishes in a small size. I'm very happy to have stayed here.
