Booked afternoon tea for my parents and their friend. The food itself was lovely with a nice selection, as can be seen from the photograph. However in keeping with every other afternoon tea I have ever been to and with the reduced appetites of my parents and their friend, I asked to take many of the cakes home. This has never been a problem in any other restaurant I have ever been in. But here I was told environmental health refused to allow it. This is absolute rubbish. Quite frankly I wonder what they do with all the cakes people don’t eat. It was incredibly frustrating they refused to give a box for the cakes to go in. There is nothing on the environmental health website regarding this and I genuinely felt it was just an internal policy . Given all the food is paid for the customer should be able to take it home if they ask. Top end restaurants through to simple cafes allow you to so why is this any different?

Where to begin 😃 we booked with Willington Hall for grandma’s 97th Birthday almost all of the family came, some stayed over in the lovely rooms. The party was held in the Orangery, the room and anteroom were beautifully presented. We were well received, the staff were simply wonderful and friendly, the inimitable Michelle looked after our party for the evening and was simply delightful. The chef was outstanding providing all of us with a spectacular meal. We eventually retired to the cosy bar and had the most wonderful celebration. Grandma had a blast. Thank you so much. 🥳.

We have just enjoyed a wonderful two night break at this stunning country hotel. The staff made us feel very welcome and were extremely attentive. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with a large en suite. We dined in the restaurant both nights and the food was to a high standard and delicious. Highly recommend as a fabulous base to explore this lovely part of Cheshire.

Having read the recent reviews on the morning of our journey to Willington Hall we arrived a little apprehensive but we need not have worried. This is an amazing hotel and we could not have chosen better. Recent reviews complain about locals using the hotel to me that is a good sign. The fact that there was some life in the hotel, which can sadly be lacking at this time of the year in country hotels, was a bonus. There were plenty of areas to have a quiet space if you wanted it and the staff were very attentive to our needs. The family who own this hotel are totally hands on and available to guests and their hospitality is second to none and made the stay even more delightful. The room was immaculate and welcoming with a very comfortable bed and a huge en suite. We had the pleasure of eating at the hotel and it is the best meal I have had in a long time beautifully cooked and generous portions. Sadly I was not able to sample the dessert menu despite wanting to as I was just too full. So anyone contemplating booking this hotel I would highly recommend that you do so and we shall certainly be returning as soon as we can. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lovely hotel in a lovely setting but they DO NOT cater for their guests, more interested in pleasing the non residents. Nice room and nice meal and breakfast first night but then everything went pear-shaped.The hotel hosted a hunt Saturday...didn't think about all the guests congregated from 7.45am right underneath our window..Went out for day, came back but couldn't sit in the bar as full of the Hunt group.Booked a window table at dinner, none available even though there was...food terrible Saturday night..breakfast was also a nightmare, food came first before drinks, wrong food came ,toast arrived after chasing 3 times when food nearly finished. Only thing going for this hotel is the location...apart from that I would stay clear if you want to feel valued as a resident....

A disaster from start to finish. A room covered in damp across the ceiling. A very rude and aggressive manager who tried to overcharge us. No housekeeping, so we ended up making our own beds. Drunk residents acting inappropriately whilst we checked-in. Tried to speak to the owner, who was totally disinterested in our justifiable concerns. Never again.

We all want a moment in our lives when time stands still, an escape, a place to go to where we can truly relax, and wash away the trials and tribulations of every day life, I believe my wife and I have found such a place, it’s not far away, it closer than you think, sitting nicely in the Cheshire countryside we found Willington hall, a Manor House that is surrounded by acre upon acre of beautiful lush Cheshire countryside, a place where you can actually hear the birds sing, and watch from dawn to dusk the change of the day take place, be it autumn winter spring or summer, Willington Hall is blessed, its manicured gardens are a credit to the owners, a family of hoteliers, who know how to take care of those who are looking for a break away, be it a night or two, or more, it’s here that you will find comfort and service delivered sincerely by a team of people who want nothing more than for you and I, to feel valued, wanted and appreciated, and whilst under their roof, to make sure there is nothing is too much trouble, they really do go all out to please. From arriving to leaving the smile says it all. So the journey to this lovely house, well it’s easy, it sits in the beast of a lovely village, country lanes carry you to this place, a long driveway brings you to the front door, plenty of parking, and views to please, you enter, and you are greeted with a smile, that could well be a hug. You are checked in, unlike the large group hotels where at times you can feel like a number, here you are made to feel special, the reception area is indeed that of a country manor, paintings of the last look down on you, a magnificent staircase beckons you, a quaint bar awaits, the dinning room beautifully laid out with gorgeous furnishings and impecably laid tables hold much promise, large windows in each room will wow you to gaze out at the countryside that surrounds this house. The gardens no matter what time of the year look stunning, indeed here is a place that truly holds so many stories, a last that is worth looking into, so much to do here, there are country walks, there’s stables, shooting, and so much more, never a dull moment, but if it’s peace and quiet, being served and enjoying great food, from a kitchen that knows how to please, with generous portions presented with style and delivered to your table with absolute hope that you will be satisfied, which I can assure you, you will be, culinary masterpieces with produce grown on this estate and supplied by local butchers or bakers, and wine list that easily matches whatever you choose. The menu will definitely tickle and tease the most discerning of palates, and nothing is too much trouble, oh and the seats truly encourage you to sit a while longer, soft luxurious and comfortable. And a couple scheme that welcomes the eye. Let me tell you, Phil the man that works tirelessly to ensure that you are left wanting for nothing, he cares, he serves, he’s genuinely kind, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfas

Excellent food. Fabulous service from reception, bar and restaurant. Beautiful location with amazing views. Friendly hospitable staff. Plenty of parking. Room was comfortable and spacious. It’s an old building with the related issues (you’d creak a bit if you were that old!). The breakfast buffet was limited however the cooked breakfast food more than made up for this. The evening meals were outstanding. We were part of a group of 6 and none of us were disappointed with the choice or quality.

Booked a one night (£195.00) "Sparkling Lazy Break" stay, for the 3rd October, as part of a birthday surprise for my wife. Big event this year so we had short breaks in Italy, Cornwall, Northumberland, New York and The Hebrides, all organised as little surprises. The day we returned from Skye we both felt a little under the weather and after two days, realised it was more than a seasonal cold and both took a Covid test, which proved positive. I have to inform the hotel that we intend to cancel and, hopefully, rebook for a later date. For two days I rang the hotel with no success, no-one was answering the phones. Eventually, the call was taken by a young lady who said that she would speak with her manager and call me back. My return call was within the 48 hour cancellation period but I was told that rebooking wouldn't be a problem. However, as my booking was through an agent (countryhotelbreaks.com), I would have to go through them. I contacted countryhotelbreaks and was told that they would need to verify this with the hotel. I waited but had no reply, it seems that the hotel was not answering the booking agents’ emails or answering their calls. I phoned the hotel again and eventually it was answered by Phil, who told me that the person I needed to speak to had been on a trip to London but had just arrived back but couldn't talk to me because the hotel was hosting a funeral wake. A message to call me back would be passed on. That return call never took place. I finally received a call from the booking agent to say that Willington Hall were not going to offer a refund or a re-booking as we had left it too late for that option. We had no idea that we would contract Covid19, certainly not in time to cancel our travel plans in advance of our stay. We thought we were doing the right thing by isolating ourselves as soon as we received Positive Test Results. We are both in our sixties (and NHS workers) and sensible enough to realise the problems our visit could have caused to other guests and staff had we ignored the result and chosen to travel. Lessons have been learned the hard and expensive (£195.00) way: a) if you have Covid, it doesn't matter as long as businesses can make a profit from you b) if you need to book a hotel, go direct. The Third-Party booking companies make a profit from your booking so why mess with a middle man who won't fight your corner once the commission has been paid (they got paid whether we arrived or not) c) if it takes a long time for a hotel to answer your phone call when you try booking (or try to follow up any calls) then walk away. This is first point of contact with a customer and already they have let you down. Would I recommend this hotel? The fact that they cannot return my calls at all says it all. NO I would never recommend Willington Hall. Nor would I recommend Country Hotel Breaks. I would like the hotel to show the courtesy to call me or email me with their U-Turn reasons after leading me to believe that a
