Merry Riverside Hotel

I initially planned to stay for just one night, but I ended up extending it to four nights because of the beautiful rooms and excellent service. 📍 **Location** The hotel is nestled by the Nam Khan River, offering picturesque views and a quiet atmosphere away from the main road. You can watch the sunrise directly from your room in the mornings. Nearby alleys hide many interesting shops, and you can easily access the river for a stroll. Although it's a bit of a walk from the night market and the main tourist street (Yangrenjie), both are within a 15-minute reach, providing a good balance between peacefulness and convenience. 🛏️ **Room Types** We experienced two room types: * **River View Room:** Lying in bed and watching the sun slowly rise over the Nam Khan River was an indescribably comfortable experience. * **Room with a Terrace:** You could practically reach out and touch the frangipani flowers. Setting up a small table and just relaxing on the terrace was incredibly pleasant and peaceful. Both room types were spacious and clean, with large bathrooms and comfortable bedding. The thoughtful detail of providing two different pillow heights was a nice touch. For three people, there was more than enough space, and all necessary toiletries were provided. 🍽️ **Breakfast** The breakfast selection was varied and plentiful, including croissants, baguettes, brownies, fresh fruit, Chinese steamed buns, stir-fried noodles, bacon, sausages, juice, and coffee. The restaurant is located on a large terrace, allowing you to enjoy a delicious breakfast while admiring the beautiful views of the Nam Khan River—a treat for both your taste buds and your eyes. 🤝 **Service** The service was meticulous, attentive, and friendly. The front desk staff were fluent in English and even spoke a little Chinese, making communication effortless. Every employee we encountered greeted us warmly. The hotel also offers motorcycle rentals for about 50 RMB for 24 hours, which is very convenient for getting around. In summary, this is a hotel I'd love to stay at again and again. We will definitely choose this place for our next visit to Luang Prabang.

## Cleanliness: Unacceptable Let me get straight to the negatives. The bed sheets looked like they hadn't been changed at all – no creases, and clearly yellowed. I genuinely believe they weren't replaced. I personally helped clean up a lot of long hair left by previous guests on the room floor. I even took photos but decided against letting such a terrible experience ruin my mood, so I deleted them. This included long female hair tangled in the hairdryer, which I also cleaned. I don't want to come across as a troublemaker. As an INFJ, I also didn't want to cause any unpleasantness in a public area (the lobby) in this quiet country. So, I can only provide fair and impartial feedback on the OTA. Both the frontline housekeeping staff and their managers should be held accountable for the room's cleanliness. If the overall rating is out of 5, I can only give a maximum of 3 points, and those 3 points are solely for the restaurant department. Their food was truly delicious, and I sincerely thank them for the amazing meals. Another point is the excessive noise from the local neighbors next door at night. Their activities and conversations severely disrupted guests' rest. Could the hotel, from a perspective of community harmony, perhaps negotiate with them to minimize noise at night? This is very distressing. To summarize, there are two main points: 1. The bedding cleanliness and quality urgently need improvement! 2. The noise from the community neighbors is affecting guests' rest, and this requires negotiation and communication at the manager/owner level. These are sincere suggestions from Chinese tourist XIA.
