La Gemma di Elena

This place was surprisingly nice in a really cool town that wasn't really on my radar. It's a short distance to the sights and some really good restaurants. It was a little challenging to check-in since the street doesn't have parking and it's hard to find, but ring the bell or connect earlier with the owner and it'll be smooth I'm sure. The parking on site was nice because it's protected from the street, but like all of Europe, pricey. There is also a breakfast option, but didn't spend the money to find out the quality. Rooms are of a really good size, great air conditioner, and bed is comfortable.

Food is tasty, good service.

At the beginning of June, my husband and I spent two nights at La Gemma di Elena on our way further down South in Italy. After being delayed we were still welcomed personally on arrival by a man who had waited for us especially, showed us around and explained all the necessary details. Thank you! The room and the ensuite were very clean. The breakfast was excellent with a large variety of typically Italian sweet treats, but also fresh fruit, yoghurt and boiled eggs etc. Tea and coffee were freshly made to order in an efficient and unfussy way. I really liked the unusual ambiente and decoration throughout. The atmosphere was friendly but not intrusively so. We really enjoyed our stay - a big thank you to everyone at La Gemma di Elena!

The hotel was spotless, the breakfast was excellent with a great variety, and the location was perfectly central for exploring the city. Having private parking was also a huge advantage in Lucca. Everyone was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and genuinely supportive throughout our stay. Their warmth and willingness to help made us feel completely at home.

The property was lovely. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Really appreciated the ride provided from the Lucca train station. Only suggestion would be to provide lighting over the bathroom sink to facilitate shaving, etc.

The workers were all very nice, and the breakfast was lovely! Considering the price per night, I thought it was a great deal!

Excellent location and secure paid parking. Rooms are quiet when windows are closed. Bathroom/shower facilities are not satisfactory and in need of updates. No elevator. Carrying luggage up and down can be a struggle. Breakfast starts at 08:00 and we had to leave before the time. The reception hours are limited.

La Gemma was great for our quick stay in Lucca. Was easy to find, staff was kind, things were clean. The area is lovely for exploring in and around Lucca.
