Had a 2 night stay at this lovely village pub. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean with a huge bathroom with bath and shower. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice of cereals then a full English. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the food was lovely. Service very good. All the staff are super friendly. Rutland is a beautiful area and the Old White Hart is ideally placed for exploring the area.

We haven't visited the Old White Hart for a couple of years and heard good reviews of lunch from friend recently so decided to visit but for an evening meal. Pleasant staff, good service however food was disappointing. Chewy, dry lamb, everything cold and small portion. My son ordered fish and chips. We counted 8 small chips on his plate and had to ask for some more. Peas were dry but reasonable flavour. Another fish dish was ok but two small stems of broccoli. Very poor value for money, staff removed my lamb meal from the bill. It was a cold night and we really wanted a hot filling meal. We wont be returning

Fantastic country pub with first class accommodation set in the picturesque village of Lyddington. The food is wonderful and at a very reasonable cost. The rooms are lovely, clean and very comfortable. The staff are fantastic and Dotty in particular deserves a special mention because she always went above and beyond what one would expect.

It’s always a pleasure to stay at the Old White Hart. The welcome is warm and friendly and the rooms lovely. The food is great value, with many ingredients, such as sausages, made in-house or locally, the menu has something for everyone and changes regularly. The wine list is well thought out. Rutland Water is close by a day out.

Stopped in ‘Wings’ room. The oldest part of the property. Charming and old world but with modern facilities. Double spa bath is nice and so is the big bathroom. We had a great afternoon and a good nights sleep.

Very nice quaint pub in a lovely village, with friendly enough staff, open fires, low ceilings and a very nice beer garden. We had a couple of starters that were quite disappointing, salmon and scallop thermidor was very whetherspoons and the paté was just cheap shop bought with a very dry piece of bread with frozen butter, wasn't sure what to make of it. We both went for the lamb rump for main and the lamb was the best bit of meat I have ever tasted! Wow! But that was it. There wasn't enough with it to make it a main. Very close to being a perfect village pub, but a few corners cut in the wrong places have let it down.

Absolutely excellent food and hospitality. Meals selected were across the board from steak to gluten free. Each delicious. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. As a local many places to chose from but this tops the list. Thank you A

Love staying here, there's loads of parking, the staff are great, the beer is great, the food is delicious, and the rooms are fantastic. It's also far better value than any of the chain hotels; plus, what hotel gives you a room with your own jacuzzi for £100?!

We were there on December 9th for a 70th birthday party. Lovely pub in a lovely village.. The event room was nice.On entering, before even paying for our drinks at the bar, we were asked to pay for our meal by a staff member ? manager, in an unfriendly or welcoming way. Once we were seated and the food came out it was in a haphazard way. As we were paying at the bar, we should have been asked what we ordered and given something to put on the table to identify what we were having , therefore the servers would not have needed to standing at the end of the tables shouting out the preferences. Same for the dessert. The main meal was disappointing, I had the salmon, which was nice, but the vegetable, a twig of broccoli was chewy, according to the guests. I don't like broccoli so didn't eat. We had a couple of nice servers , but the rest of the staff were miserable. Two of the servers were also bar staff, as this was a function extra staff should have been there to assist. Then, there was the issue of a very loud party/get together at the opposite end of the bar. Sounded more like a working mens club and they all had obviously over their limit of drinks. Also one was bouncing a rugby ball in the bar.One of them knocked into one of our group and knocked her drink over someone else. Not exactly the actions of gentlemen. We also had 6 people who were not able to come due to illness and they had to pay for the meals. As a business person I would not have charged the full amount for those meals , I do understand that the food was ordered in but this was food that could be used it was nothing special. Salmon, chicken and sausages .Another way is to ask the hostess of the party if she / or anyone else wanted these meals to take home, as they were paid for. Poor service, food that was overpriced for what is was and poor service. Luckily we all enjoyed the company.
