Lynchburg Grand Estate by IHG

Fourth and worst hotel we’ve stayed at in Lynchburg. ☹️ We had high hopes, but this hotel smells old and musty all throughout. We spent as little time as possible in it because we were so worried about the mold smell (I’ve traveled all over Asia so my tolerance is pretty high). One elevator was broken, and the working one felt super rickety. Nothing felt fresh or clean about the hotel — it’s all old and very used feeling. The shower worked on and off. Honestly we kept comparing our experience at the Lynchburg Grand to a motel we stayed at in Lynchburg once. It felt like we paid 3 times the price of a motel for a motel-ish experience. We stayed at the Holiday Inn last time we were in Lynchburg and seriously regretted not staying there again. Stay elsewhere if possible, this place isn’t worth the hype or money.

Smells bad in lobby. Carpet on floors in hallway old. Breakfast had no real food. Beds were horrible and small. Nobody at front desk at night. Seemed dark and dingy all over.

Over all ,this is and older hotel, but it appears to be taken care of, the rugs in the halls were nice and clean. Getting into the room was a problem, you had to put the room key into the slot many times before you would get a green light to enter. This was every time you went into the room. It took 10-15 minutes for the shower water to get warm/hot, every time. I purchased a king size bed but was put in a room with two double beds. They claimed that all the king size were booked. I showed them my confirmation of a king size being booked but they said there was nothing they could do since no king size beds were available. The price was very reasonable

The room was nice the bed was really really comfortable, I had some of the best rest I have had in a long time.

Unsecured parking. Dirty room. Very old and dated. No food or bar. Looks semi-deserted. Very warm water (but never hot), which took forever to get warm. My wife had to unclog the bathroom sink using her tweezers. It would not drain at all. Fortunately, we were only in the hotel to sleep at night. Not many choices to stay downtown Lynchburg unless one has $ to burn.

This hotel is a diamond in the rough. It used to be a classic upscale hotel built as such. The good: Location is perfect. Free Parking garage attached. Rooms are built to be silent. You don't really hear any noise. King bed was pretty comfortable. The price $$ is significantly cheaper than other hotels. The downside: Needs updated decor. No restaurants or breakfast offered, but there used to be a restaurant there. Only basic coffee offered. There are great options up the street. Had to request more soap and towel. No idea what is going on with the pool. None of the downsides would stop me from staying here again.
